The Gary Condit comparision is aboslutely relevant. The media hounded him and accused him of "hiding" by not confessing he killed her...while the police were saying he was cooperating and he was not a suspect.

The folks who want him out of office without regard to innocence to guilt.

If I were him I wouldn't say a word to the police either. Let them gather evidence and either bring an indictment or not.

Just deny it in general terms in press releases, but otherwise don't talk to the cops.

The cops and prosecutors are not your friends. They are looking to get convictions. Especially the prosecutors, most of whom fancy themselves as potential candidates for mayor or governor one day. They just love to pad their resumes with high-profile convictions.

Gary Condit was run out of office for having an affair with an intern. That came out in the murder investigation, where he was not charged.

I think Menendez is going down. No pun intended.

Gary Condit was hounded out of office because he wasn't credible in his answers....if you recall he was caught in a lie regarding his affair. He lied to investigators and the public.
