LOL. Mentioned earlier in the thread. I've seen those images... tell me what was targeted... the pontoon bridge or the tanks? I already know because as I wrote I've seen the images. Likely they used a standard HE fragmentation round... if it was that kind of range, something that was rocket boosted to extend the range which in fact would have reduced the HE inside of the round making it less explosive.

HE rounds on a pontoon bridge? Yep...perfect use.. not to mention all of the Russian Sappers that would have been working the bridge. Bridges are also pretty static... it's not like it was going to move after the round exited the tube..

the area around the bridge was targeted.

there were tanks on the banks of the river. Russians lost something like 25% of the brigade.

You stated that incorrectly, Ukraine claims the Russians lost a 1/4 of a brigade. That's about 1000 troops, 10 tanks, 20 ~BMPs or BTRs. I counted 3 tanks... around 13 BMPs, That's a tank platoon and a rifle company... likely those were the security force for the bridging company.

Combatant casualty claims are almost ALWAYS overstated... you can look at our own or our enemies from WW1 on and the claims are always overstated. And again, the BMPs make perfect targets since they are soft skinned. The tanks are all on the banks of the river so again, they weren't really the target, the bridge itself as a river crossing was.

If I had to put a casualty count on the event... 300 men mostly from the rifle companies.

Have you noticed you may be the only person in the world that doesn't believe an m777 howitzer can destroy a tank ? Now you are making even stranger statements....doing your own reconnaissance now ? You have embarrassed yourself beyond belief.

A senior US defense official told reporters in a background briefing Thursday that the US estimates that Russia has lost nearly 1,000 tanks since it launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine.

This is just one of several possible shells to use.

M982 Excalibur guided artillery projectile

The M982 Excalibur is a projectile with GPS guidance with extended range. It was designed to hit stationary targets with high accuracy. M982 Excalibur succeeded the M712 Copperhead laser-guided artillery shell.

Excalibur has retractable hinged fins. Due to the stabilization of the fins, this projectile has excellent accuracy with an error of 5 m or even less, the combat experience of 2007 in Iraq showed that 92% of projectiles fall at a distance of not more than 4 meters from the target.

The programmable guidance system allows the howitzer crew to tune Excalibur to hit a specific geographical location, allowing the military to hit specific high-priority targets with single projectiles (such as a particularly problematic enemy firing emplacement).

In addition to GPS guidance, Excalibur also has inertial guidance, which not only allows the projectile to maintain a ballistic arc, even in case of strong jamming, but also allows guidance when GPS is not available at all (although it will not be as accurate). In addition, Excalibur is resistant to GPS interference.

Excalibur could take out stationary enemy vehicles one at a time, or even rain down a curtain of well-placed explosive shells along a trench line of enemy troops.

This guy is hopeless. May be the only one in the world that doesn't believe m777 howitzers are able to destroy tanks.

You are the only one who can't understand the point of this thread.

If you ask the same question over and over again, maybe you should answer it. I am not operating an m777 howitzer. A lot of men in the military are, and destroying tanks with it.

Or just keep embarrassing yourself.

Ask the military personnel who are destroying the tanks with the m777 howitzer if you want to know what they use.

Several different shells used in the m777 have already been mentioned and shown also.

Your question has already been answered.

I don't operate m777 howitzers.

It has been showm several times already what shells military personnel use in the m777 howitzer.
