I don't disagree with you. The details of the whole altercation have not come out yet. At least I have not read anything on it and I look for articles on the case. If Zimmerman states that and all the evidence backs him up, it will be hard disprove.
Zimmerman's actions before and after the shooting show a rather mentally disturbed person, IMHO.
"Then came 2005, and a series of troubles. Zimmerman's business failed, he was arrested, and he broke off an engagement with a woman who filed a restraining order against him.
That July, Zimmerman was charged with resisting arrest, violence, and battery of an officer after shoving an undercover alcohol-control agent who was arresting an under-age friend of Zimmerman's at a bar. He avoided conviction by agreeing to participate in a pre-trial diversion program that included anger-management classes.
In August, Zimmerman's fiancee at the time, Venica Zuazo, filed a civil motion for a restraining order alleging domestic violence. Zimmerman reciprocated with his own order on the same grounds, and both orders were granted. The relationship ended."
As many have stated, Zimmerman broke just about every neighborhood watch rule in his confrontation with Martin.
IMHO, Zimmerman is a good man who got caught up in protecting his neighborhood, which had seen a drastic increase in crime recently. In following Martin and eventually confronting him, he initiated the sequence of events that led to Martin's death. Had he followed neighborhood watch protocol, and followed the advice of the 911 phone responder, a young, innocent boy would be alive today.

SpeedRacer,
I have a question for you. What is your experience with crime, guns, etc?

IMO the stand your ground law is too problematic.
In your house.. yes. In your car ... yes. On the street? no. walk the fuck away. Zimmerman followed him. the whole idea that Zimmerman after tailing this guy, calling the cops, tailing him more, then walking back to his car and then blindsided? Bullshit, either he's a liar, stupid to never once look back over his shoulder on the way to his car, or a good reason why he was two rungs under rentacop. with that piss poor situational awareness ( against a guy he thought to be up to no good! )
It's easily argues that Trayvon stood his ground. then Zimmerman stood his ground. But only one of them had a gun.
hypothetical:
I feel threatened by a guy and stand my ground. But then he sees I have a gun so stands his ground, then the guy waking his dog on the other side of the street sees me with my gun and he feels threatened and stands his ground. Then the little old lady taking her trash out sees the guy walking his dog pull a gun and stands her ground.
OK corral. Seriously.
IMO Zimmerman was looking for a reason to pull his gun, and found one. Hope that works out for him.

Probably the best "unofficial ruling" that has been offered. Still, it's the law that's wrong. It shouldn't have been an option.

All he did was push an undercover agent, he was trying to help his friend. The guy was undercover, he didn't know that.

Bad relationship on both sides, both orders were granted.

The neighborhood originally ask him to start a neighborhood watch program. Wow, he broke the violation of the neighborhood watch rule. I do that every month when I don't cut my grass. He didn't break fedeal or state law, he had a permit to a concealed hand gun.
IMHO, Zimmerman is a good man who got caught up in protecting his neighborhood, which had seen a drastic increase in crime recently. I agree with you on this, they both should have just walked away. Martin ran from Zimmerman after initially walking towards him and messing with something in his waistband. Zimmerman didn't know it was just ice tea and skittles. Martin should have just walked home, but he ran instead making him look like he was guilty of something.

Not at all sure what you mean. I do not own a gun, never have, and probably never will. No need for one. I have fired an M-16 many, many times, although in the distant past. I do know about gun laws, although I'm sure not as well as many.
Experience with crime? No idea what you're looking for in a response. Never been arrested. Never been a victim of a violent crime. Have served on juries.
And I realize that I'm discussing something with someone who believes he knows everything about everything.

It was a simple question. I ask because it is simple to play monday night quarterback with someone's decisions. I this month had an experience with someone in my back yard after I had showered. I was drying off and heard foot steps and notice a semi looking homeless guy. I of course by instinct grab my .40, put on some clothes, open the door and bascially shout " you need to be gone now before I put my shoes on and come outside". I put my shoes on and he is walking across my yard and exiting. I am letting him know that he needs to not come back ever. All during this my gun is behind me out of his sight but ready if he dares charge me while I am in my property. I do the smart thing and call the police and I drive up the access road and he is pulled over.
I ask the question because it is easy to give an opinion on what someone should have done, etc. I can see how people get themselves in trouble when it comes to guns. The adrenaline that goes through your body, the panic, etc. I luckily and lucky for myself, was calm and let the police do their jobs but I can also see how someone like Zimmerman react the quite opposite of what I or others would do

Sixx,
first, I have stated several times I do not know what went on that night in question. My only desire is that the case comes to trial so hopefully all the questions are answered, and if Zimmerman is found guilty, or innocent, so be it. If you call that knowing everything about everything, I think you should re-read the majority of my posts. I try to back up opinion with fact, and if someone proves me wrong, I admit to it.
As for your personal example, I certainly agree with your statements. That could be one reason why I do not own a gun. However, making the wrong choice is no defense. A person is responsible for his or her actions. Your mention of Fred Yazdi shooting Enrique Recio is a good example. Probably a good man who made a terrible decision with a gun and may end up in jail. Gun ownership carries with it a great responsibility.
Monday morning quarterbacking??? That's what about 99% of the posts on this board are about. If you will notice, I tend to stay out of the vast majority of it. Do enjoy reading it though.

Cant wait until he is freed. Arm yourselves.... riots are coming.
Despite that Zimmerman is Hispanic, this Trayvon thing has spawned a wave of black on white violence in Trayvon's name. The media remains silent.
America has had a good run. But due to rampant overpopulation of scum, and laws made to protect criminals and demonize the victims(and a media that plays along) America's future will resemble a combination of Mogadishu and Juarez. Its over. Liberals, prepare to embrace the violent third world wasteland youve always wanted.

SOB, you crack me up. Posting after many of my posts taking your shots. Hmmm, lemme think about this and I will get back to you. You mentioned you like Sam's. I prefer hanging out by housing projects. You know poor, crackheads... ah man... we might even run into the crackhead that spit out a couple of your grandkids. Maybe you can point her out for me and I will see how good she is at giving BJ's....

All I ask is that you be a man and retract your lies. Keep preying on the poor. I mentioned that I like the owners at Sams. One more time... you better ask somebody, seriously. You take care of the apology and I'll wash me hands of you. All I ask is that you be a MAN.

The truth is gonna come out. The blacks aren't gonna like it. Get ready for riots, and a surge in attacks on whites.
