I opened this bottle tonight ... I really like it. I did what one reviewer said and left it alone for 30 minutes after opening.

The second glass was even better than the first.

It has a thin feel to it, but nice flavors.

I would buy this again.

I bought this for my birthday. It was the bottle we opened before heading out to Pappas Bros. Steak House.

I opened it about an hour ahead of time. It had a nice taste, but there was a bit of skunky smell of some kind. The smell dissipated, but never totally. I wonder if that's what strong tannins smell like?

The wine got better by the second glass.

The Hype: Ruby robe of high intensity, with very delicate aromas dominated by red fruit. Tannins present with a good length at the end of mouth.
Wine for ageing.

Grape varieties:
Mourvèdre : 70%
Grenache: 25%
Carigan : 5%

If I really should have more than one type of glass, help me keep it down to the two most common. And forget Champagne glasses, I'm talking mostly drinking reds.

It looks as though I'll be mostly on Cabs, Pinots, Malbecs, etc.

I started looking at all the options and I knew some of you have worked this out without filling a cabinet with all the glassware they want you to buy.
I drink mostly red so I have 3 types: Short stem for a big party. Long stem for a small party.

And finally, this is my favorite glass for daily usage:

I really liked this wine. I'm liking that most of the wines I'm loving are at the low end of the price scale.

However, next time one of you guys opens a bottle of Opus One, give me a call and let me come by and see what I think.

I rarely drink so I'm fairly clueless about alcohol, with that being said I'm looking at gift ideas for someone else.

Likes cabernet, pinot noir, riesling and chardonnay but prefers the reds.
Does not like merlot

She's very thrifty so if it is cheap she will like it more

Suggestions?

EX-Navy
Spec's must have me in their face-recognition database by now.

I was killing some time today and stopped in to get another Malbec. As

>> there is a small wine buisness on Hempstead hwy
The La Fuente Wine Tastings - Every Saturday 1pm-5pm. 10606 Hempstead Highway, Ste 118,. Houston, TX 77092.

they private label some wines from Argentina, Malbec being one, it was really pretty good, I think around $12 is what I paid.
