A person who can only post cartoons is in their first stage of senility.

I agree it is better for them to have insurance, but you do realize hospitals cannot refuse treatment if a mother fucker can't pay, don't you?

Oddly, our resident hospital administrator (snick) is implying that they can tell doctors to refuse treatment.

Also, what is the patient isn't a motherfucker, JayLa?

I can't think of anything that is not insulting to comment regarding whether there are Medicaid/Care patients (and even a majority if you exclude Mexicans) who go to the emergency room with the sniffles, so I'll just skip to the main point.

Why do you think healthy people need an insurance policy? They don't, they need a catastrophic coverage policy which are dirt cheap compared to Obamacare policies just in case they get into an accident or a life threatening illness. The way you talk you would think all of a sudden healthcare is free in America and tens of millions of people will now be insured. The reality is tens of millions of young, healthy people that do not need or want health insurance will now be forced to purchase something they do not need in order to pay for the elderly that had their entire life to prepare for, and did not.
It's distribution and socialism at it's finest. I admit, I miss the days when people took responsibility for themselves, their healthcare, and prepared for their futures.

Can't anymore, thanks to Obamacare. The new reform regulations force them to cover all the shit young, healthy people do not need in order to subsidize the irresponsible.

thanks to obamacare ... riiiiiiight, I almost forgot

I carried a catastrophic policy for years because of the exact reasons you mentioned , what you fail to mention, a policy of that nature has a VERY high deductible ... my options were 3, 4or 5K if I remember correctly... I remember I chose the 5K deductible and never used the policy in the 15 years I had it

Exactly, young, healthy people will not use Obamacare policies either! It is a complete waste of their hard earned capital which only serves the sick and irresponsible.

Hopefully they have that option, and not jail time if they can't pay the fine, but you cannot make the claim that they are not making them do squat, when there is the possibility of them going to prison.

It would make it much more palatable for me if Obama would just come out and say "yes" or "no" on whether or not they are going to put you in prison for not having the ability to pay the fine. I haven't heard a reporter ask lately, but to my knowledge, nobody in the administration has answered this question and dodged it every time.
