First, I don't think we can assume BP's self-censorship is permanent. These guys have a lot of resources and will continue to fight.

Second, I have mixed emotions about them going away. If the government's goal was to make the hobby world a safer place, I'd be overjoyed with stories of legitimate providers joining P411, Eccie, etc. As Mya states, that benefits the rest of us when a better regulated marketplace exists.

But we all know the endgame here is not to make the hobby safer. It's to eradicate it from the internet. While Eccie's operating model appears substantially different from BP, if the government is successful in its censorship of that outlet, you can be damn sure they will use what they learn there to come after other popular hobby sites.

Sherry, I think the ownership knows where it's weak points are, which is why they tightened up the age verification and female membership process. The government isn't shutting down websites because of dirty pictures. In fact, part of their claim against BP was based on BP's "cleaning up" ads.

Yep. When you "clean up" ads, it can be assumed that you knew something was wrong with it to start with- losing all rights to claim the safe harbor exemption for your site's content.
