OK. I will grant you that FOX is wrong in doing this just like what Andrea Mitchell did. However, in his policy he is not prioritizing prosecution he is refusing to prosecute. There is a big difference there.

I still think that his publicly announcing that this was his policy was the wrong thing to do. It encourages people to bring kids here in hopes that if they manage to stay long enough they will get to stay permanently. That is bad policy. The last thing we need is another motivating reason for people to come here illegally. He could have made the enforcement policy quietly by stating the enforcement priorities through the department heads where these cases are done only if all other priorities are dealt with first. That would have ensured they were never done without changing the law or publicly encouraging illegal immigration.

If Obama had changed the enforcement policy quietly as you suggest, he would have lost the political advantage of pandering to Mexican-Americans. Obama realizes that this type of high profile change in policy encourages additional illegal immigration; that's what he wants. Illegal immigrants usually become new Democrat voters.
