I'm glad it was helpful. Showcase photography is fun but it is a different beast from our other genres of work.

heh.
if you think hookers are flakey when you want to pay THEM, just wait until they're supposed to be paying YOU.

Exactly, and I would go as far to say that all venues are different to the extent of requiring different artistic mindset for each, even if some overlap on skill set.

Great post! It's good to know there are like-minded professionals in this (small) community of photographers!

@ShawnRoxy thanks and welcome aboard
@hard I shoot digital (really miss the film days) and my settings are all manual. I'm pretty sure most of us are shooting digital with manual settings and shooting raw.

i shoot digital with a camera that has lots of megapictures and very many iso's. i like the "p" mode because it's for professionals, but if it doesn't work i just fix it with photoshop actions.

what's funny is how often we hear some of those phrases -- I heard a new one the other day about "p" - I was asked if it stood for "print ready mode"

quick question guys! How do providers send you their deposits? I know it's important to prevent NCNS, but how do they send you the funds while still maintaining discretion?
Also, what do you all think of photographer reviews? In the same way that we have escort reviews, what do you think of doing the same thing for photographers, where escorts write reviews about our "services"?

My deposits are made via my website and I have never had a problem with doing it that way. Because of the discretion factor that goes with this industry there is a trust factor involved but all of the women that have worked with me have done their diligence and checked references prior to shooting which I encourage so they know their personal information is not going to be shared with anyone. I also shoot other genres of work and some of those clients require the same discretion so it's all business - treat all of your clients professionally and you should not have any problems.
Also, what do you all think of photographer reviews? In the same way that we have escort reviews, what do you think of doing the same thing for photographers, where escorts write reviews about our "services"?
They may not write reviews but they do share what it's like working with the various photographers with other prospective clients. Your work and your work ethic should speak for itself but testimonials never hurt. I never ask for them but I'm always appreciative when a happy client voices their happiness with my work and/or our shooting experience and I'm also open to constructive criticism from clients that may not be happy and will work to remedy those situations also.

honestly, i think you have to do some fucking before you do any photographing. this is a trust game and you have to build rapport. there's no better way to start building a reputation, and the good news is it's fun!
