My number one all-time really bad experience was from BP in San Francisco. Although I was stupid in what I did, I violated most of my basic rules and basically got held up in my hotel room. I did not get some independetn verification. Interesting thing is that the night before I had managed to connect with Texas Vixen via eccie when she was traveling to SF area as well. One great night and one really horrific (and expensive). I never do BP unless I have some alternate verificiation.

My personal reasons for looking around are that I can often send out ECCIE PM's and it is difficult to get responses or the screening issue. I prefer to use 411 but can send out 10 requests and get 1 reply 4 days later. Also, the 411 rates are usually significanlty higher (depending on area) than other advertised rates. I asked a couple of providers why it would be that a client with history and OK's and is pre-screened would pay a higher rate and was told "the 411 guys can afford it". So, yeah I look around.
