I quit wearing a watch over 10 years ago. It felt like I set myself free. Cell phone is always on me so don't need a bulky wrist piece draggin me down.

WALDT. I can’t stand fishing my phone out to look at the time. I might get a “wearable” one day when they actually don’t look dorky, but until then I’m going with old-fashioned analog.

me too, except I never really did wear a watch, for the same reason.. bulky object wearing me down.. same for rings, hats, eye glasses, whatever isn't naturally attached to me from birth. I wear clothes, because the law says I must.

I notice people who wear watches today, like I used to notice people with tattoos 20 years ago.

On the other hand (see what I did there ....) I have a watch that only has the hour hand, and it makes a slow trip around the dial once every 24 hours. I love it on lazy weekends when I only want to know 'about' what time it is.

Oh, and nothing wrong with a smart watch. It’s just not an item I’m interested in wearing at this time.

A plain Timex? Yes.

Thoughts on wearing a watch?

You look at the Citizen Eco Drive line. The face of the watch is a solar cell, and as long as the watch is in light on a regular basis, it runs with the accuracy of any quartz watch. Men's models come with a 90 day reserve (can hold a charge for up to 90 days), ladies less so because of a smaller case / battery. Once you've found a model you like on the Citizen web site. do a DuckDuckGo search. Typically, you can get the same model for 30-40% off on Amazon or other established mail order companies.

I own four of them, two are 20+ years old and beat to hell, but still keep time...

I wear a watch. It is better than having to constantly look at your phone (especially in an appointment; its rude to be on the phone). Its just convenient to look at my wrist then go in my purse & dig for my phone. Not to mention I think anyone nowadays that wears one is super sexy&sophisticated!!

you know what, though.. I see watch-wearers who are obsessed with flipping their wrist to observe the time, in many situations that are unwarranted.. example.

I am sitting with a watch-wearer, watching TV.. a commercial comes on, touting a show that will begin later, at 9:00.. it is 4:00, or so, now, but the watch-wearer instinctively flips his fucking wrist to note the current time. I have seen this kind of example a lot. and sometimes I see someone who does not have a watch on at the time, flip his wrist to view the time.. it looks stupid, as if a TV commercial described a new restaurant opening, and the viewer starts moving his mouth, as if he is chewing food.

As my mind wallers in the vast shadows of darkness I try to catch a glimpse of a shadow I once cast .

The point being once one becomes familiar and implimants land navigational skills in a imitate danger zone your shadow tells you everything .

In the beginning of the day or towards the end your shadow is at its largest while during the middle if the day it is almost non existent.

The luxury of a watch .

Ever see the movie with Christopher walkins where he tells the story of being in a pow camp with a watch up his ass the whole time ?

I read a few watch buying guides a year ago. Apparently, telling accurate time is the least important function of a watch.

For most guys it is bling. Flair to show or pretend they have money. From my experience, it works on women. They look for stupid shit like that. Shoes can also attract a woman. (Your shoes. Although buying them some will also make their panties drop.) And that is the only reason I would consider buying a new watch.
I know, sounds shallow. But it's true.

The “watch hate” is sad to see.

My dad wore a gaudy, gold timepiece. It was flashy, but not an Uber-expensive luxury brand. Damned reliable. It was a great reflection of who he was.

Watches can say a lot about a person, good and bad. I miss those days.

Cell phone clocks are synched to the atomic clock so you are assured of the correct time. Stopped wearing a watch decades ago.
