Certainly a Senator has to represent his or her state but also has to take into account what is best for the U.S. as a whole. Nice theory but probably rarely done.

It will be interesting to see if he is a one-term Senator.
I wonder if he can survive that term.

And don't for one minute think Ted Cruz speaks to or for Latinos. He is a LINO! Mexican Americans in Texas did not vote for him.

Again , if you can not get elected nationally, you do not get to appoint SC Justices.

Cruz plays well in Red States...couldn't get elected dog catcher nationally.

Of course you "wonder"....your a fucking idiot..................you think Texas will recall his senate seat ?

Cruz is a clean politician, unlike Reid, Obama, and others....so corruption/scandal won't drive him from office !

The Democrats despise Cruz because he is a conservative Hispanic; they can't call him a coconut, but they will try.

Right...but you do get to vote up or down on the nominee....If the Senate had more Cruz and less McConnell's and Reids we wouldn't have gotten Ginsburg, Sotomayor, et al..............

You don't have to win national elections to control the agenda......you don't understand the American political system do you ?

Cruz is a fucking rookie. and an arrogant one at that. as such, there's every chance that he'll fuck up so bad that we'll have no choice but to remove him.

His behavior in the GOP caucus also could impact Cornyn's standing, and that would bring him under fire from the whip.

As someone who continually deals in sky fall theory, Im surprised the notion of Cruz not lasting a full six years isn't outside of the realm of possibility for you Whirlyturd.

Can't call him a coconut, as you so respectfully termed it, because he's a white man from Canada. He might as well be Martin Sheen. Fuck, he might as well be Martin Short!!

and how do you know he's clean? I seem to remember a few commercials not long ago that made rather pointed accusations. Maybe we should revisit those, bub.

So the Supreme Court would be better off with 9 Conservative-leaning justices and no Liberal-leaning justices? Interesting.

Regarding Cruz. I have no reason to believe he is dishonest or corrupt in any way. I sincerely doubt the fact that he is of Latino origin comes into the decision-making process of many Texas voters. So far, I have just not been impressed with his political actions, no matter how you classify them. But he has about 5 1/2 years left in which to prove himself to us.

America would be better off with a SC that didn't push America father from the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. A SC that respected limited government and states rights.

The fact he is a Hispanic originally from Canada won't stop the left from trying to de-humanize/demean him....look what you all do to anyone you disagree with. You go all racial with epithats !

He is clean; but that likely won't stop Harry Reid from making up some "anonymous source" who says Cruz didn't pay his taxes !

When you get a similar response from Cruz; let us know....until then, Democrat Majority Leader Harry Reid is the Nastiest Politician in America !

Do you not understand just how the Constitution works?

The President appoints SC Justices. If you keep losing national elections, you will lose the opportunity to shape the country in the direction you would like to see it go.

It seems IB is the only one of you righties that understood this.

YOU do not know that the Senate can confirm or NOT the SCOTUS nominee............if more like minded Cruz Senators were elected, liberal judges wouldn't get past the nomination process.......................

Of course it is best to win the Presidency - the ONLY NATIONAL ELECTION - but holding the presidency isn't the only path to controlling the SCOTUS nomination process !

Just holding the Senate Judicial Chairman gavel has significant weight on who does/doesn't make it to the SC.

Obviously, you don't know the Constitution, or the workings of the Legislative branch

Simple FACT JACK !

Unfortunately we run into the problem that certain individuals don't believe the SCOTUS should try to interpret the Constitution and the Bill of Rights in any way, and that only Conservatives have the right to do so.
