There won't be another "assault" weapons ban... too many Patriots are "woke" now.
The 94 assault ban legislation is pointed to by many democrats as a big reason they lost in 94. They failed to get health care fixed and they shoved overreaching gun control down people's throats.
It's also helped in Gores defeat in 2000.
I honestly think the lefty politicians use it as a talking point to rally voters but realize what actually poking the bear does by passing legislation. It makes them lose!
I agree that restricting people with "mental issues" from owning a gun can become too restrictive. Do you have any statements from people on the LEFT that you feel are too restrictive?
And can you cite some statements from politicians who support background checks to buy ammunition or tax ammunition? I tried to find such statements but could not. Certainly possible that one or two politicians support such actions but I doubt it is something supported by the majority on the left.
For the liberals statements on mental issues. It was something Feinstein said, in relation to military personnel not being included in a 2012 bill making mental folk not able to get guns, and that all the military should be included, cause they are mental.. Though it seems that quote was taken out of context/debunked..

Doesn't matter. it shows their mentality..
Thank you for the links.
As I stated, I figured that one or two politicians support background checks to purchase ammunition or taxing ammunition. It is not a position backed by most people whether they be liberal or not.
You can't hide it anymore and middle America will certainly make it an issue for the 2018 elections and you will lose. Big time!
Now you are just being stupid. A person who is not even an elected official in the state of Louisiana makes a ridiculous tweet and now ALL people left of center want to repeal the 2nd Amendment???
Regarding your 2nd link, I found some interesting comments on the poll:
"One caveat is that other polls have shown that many Americans do not know what the Second Amendment is. In 1999, for instance, a Hearst Newspapers poll found that 59 percent of respondents said they did not know the purpose of the Second Amendment."
"Beyond that, the poll showed that a plurality of Americans do not see the Second Amendment as something set in stone. Forty-six percent said they favored modifying the Second Amendment to allow for stricter regulations, compared with 39 percent who were opposed. More than three-quarters of Democrats said they supported modifying the Second Amendment, as did more than one-quarter of Republicans."
So, many on both sides have problems with the 2nd Amendment. As expected, more on the Democratic side than the Republican side.
Yes, we will see in about 7 months just how much such issues mean to voters. I believe Democrats will pick up many House seats and will in all likelihood take control. I assume you are saying that Republicans will increase their number of seats in the House. If I am wrong I will admit it. If you are wrong I expect you to admit it.

That's right, speedy. Your ilk depends on the stupid and uninformed vote.
