if you say so...

This guy is trying to declare a victory, while he actually lost (like Trump). Meantime, M777 howitzers continue to destroy tanks in Ukraine.

This is the guy who believes he knows when life begins, and wants to shove it down everyones throats.

There is no discussion with closed minded people like this. The GOP is full of zealots, and this is just another one of them.

Posts of M777 howitzers destroying tanks will continue to be posted, so this thread does not fall off the front page.

Scouring the literature, desperately trying to disprove that M777 howitzers are unable to destroy tanks. You come up with a publication from 2016 !!!

Meantime, in year 2022, M777 howitzers with their sophisticated shells are destroying Russian tanks daily.

The M777 can reach a target at 25 miles with a Circular Error Probable (CEP) of 16 feet

Maybe you need to join Putin's team, and try to explain to everyone the Ukraine invasion is going smoothly. You will have better luck with that than what you are accomplishing here.

Or prove you are not a communist.

M777 destroying tanks. they would have to be using rocket assisted projectiles to take out tanks. those rounds would go further than the artillery rounds.

regular artillery projectiles won't kill a tank, but can severely damage one to take it out of service.

Nope. these howitzers don't have the tech you claim allows them to hit tanks on the move. so all your jabbering about the Excalibur round is hot air

unless you expect the US to give high tech to Russia? not a good idea. all it would take is to capture one howitzer with advanced tech and now Russia has it. Brilliant! NOT

US-supplied howitzers to Ukraine lack accuracy-aiding computers

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/us-s...ry?id=84840798

The computers improve efficiency and accuracy.

KYIV -- Dozens of artillery systems supplied by the United States to Ukraine were not fitted with advanced computer systems, which improve the efficiency and accuracy of the weapons, ABC News has learned.

The M777 155mm howitzers are now being used by the Ukrainian military in its war with Russia.

The Pentagon did not deny that the artillery pieces were supplied without the computers but said it had received "positive feedback" from the Ukrainians about the "precise and highly effective" weapons.

That positive sentiment was echoed by a Ukrainian politician, who spoke to ABC News on condition of anonymity. However, the politician also expressed frustration that the artillery pieces had not been the fitted with the digital computer systems.

Artillery is currently playing a crucial role in the fighting raging in eastern Ukraine as Russia continues its offensive in that part of the country.

U.S. officials recently confirmed that all but one of the 90 howitzers promised to Ukraine had now been delivered, along with tactical vehicles used to tow them.

If fitted to a howitzer, the digital computer system enables the crew operating the weapon to quickly and accurately pinpoint a target.

Howitzers without a computer system can still be fired accurately, using traditional methods to calculate the angle needed to hit a target. Modern computer systems, however, rule-out the possibility of human error.

Why the artillery pieces supplied to Ukraine did not have the digital targeting technology installed is unclear. The Pentagon said it would not discuss individual components "for operational security reasons."

it's completely clear. as noted above Ukraine can't guarantee one of these artillery pieces won't be captured by Russia. they just won't say so.

ABC News contributor Steve Ganyard, a retired colonel in the United State Marine Corps, said the reason for not providing the computers would be "compromise."

"It’s a risk assessment the U.S. does with any export," he said.

"If this piece of kit ends up in Moscow, what is the damage to U.S. security? In this case they couldn’t share the best the U.S. has," he said.

The revelation about the lack of computer systems on the howitzers comes amid broader frustration in Ukrainian political circles that the U.S. has not yet supplied certain types of advanced weaponry.

To date, the U.S. and its allies have provided Ukraine with an impressive quantity and array of weapons including thousands of anti-tank missiles, thousands of anti-aircraft missiles, hundreds of armored vehicles and armored personnel carriers and hundreds of attack drones.

MORE: Russia-Ukraine live updates: Russia fires top commanders over Ukraine war failures

However, the Ukrainian government is currently lobbying the United States for multiple rocket launcher systems and western-made fighter jets, such as F16s

Ukrainian politicians interviewed by ABC News said it was urgent that Ukraine received these types of weapons now, because they believe that Russia is vulnerable following a string of failures on the battlefield.

"Russia is very weak now. Their army is very demoralized," said a Ukrainian politician.

"What we are saying is that we need all the multi-rocket-launcher systems now. This is the best time for us to get the Russians out of our country."

"To do that, we need really good U.S. weapons," the politician said.

ABC News' Luis Martinez contributed to this report.

at that range, they'd have to be using rocket projectiles.

artillery rounds range at 19 miles.

Default Al you really need is an empty lunch pail to stop a column of tanks.

While the below does not show the entire column of tanks (about 25 or so) it illustrates what a single person can do with just an empty lunch pail and bag of clothes.

Did I say anything about moving tanks, Wacko ? You are having a terrible day.
Get some rest and come back another day.

For the last time:

The M777 can reach a target at 25 miles with a Circular Error Probable (CEP) of 16 feet

And they have already destroyed many Russian tanks.

Well those aren't howitzers firing in Ukraine number one unless the USMC has joined the fight. The vehicles they show are APCs so... that's NOT a tank... an APC is a soft(er) skin vehicle which IS a good target for artillery..the shrapnel will go through them like swiss cheese.

The actual close up images of the "tanks" they show are a mix of German Leopard 2's and Marder APCs.

If this is the basis for his claims then it's just as true that Ancient Aliens built the pyramids because there is a video on the History channel proving it.

All this quibbling is pintless.

The facts are that Ukraine has gotten or will soon get around 100 155mm howitzers from the USA. These are capable of effective indirect fires at over the horizon ranges. The details are moot. Ukraine forces will use them however they can, in the most effective way they can, to defend themselves.

Ukraine is getting and will get other self-propelled artillery from several European NATO countries. Each type has a different set of pros and cons regarding range, accuracy and movability . . .and maintenance.

Pissing at eachother on this board over these details is pintless.

Now that is one of my favorite episodes! But I have always wondered: If "space Alean's" did help the Egyptians with building the pyramids in ancient times, why didn't they also teach them how to build an arch?

Arches in stone architecture don't appear in the ancient world for a thousand years after the pyramids. It took the Romans to figure out how to stack up cut stones in a half-circle standing up.

Another thought now: In this woke age, can we still call them aliens?

Why didn't the ancient Chinese invent hang gliders? They had all the right stuff to make huge kites. Even flew a man in a couple of big kites. But no gliders for thousands of years . . .not even a paper airplane . . .and they had paper.
