Oh & DED...where were you to break up all those "NBA" threads???? Or did you believe they were fine to let go because you approved of the commentary or the hard questions being asked?
Do you feel that some women may not want to see men of a certain race because there is a stereotype (more than other races) that they want to "Dick Em Down" & and for a couple hundred bucks they don't feel it isn't worth seeing individuals more inclined to such behavior....
Don't answer, "well they weren't in Houston so I didn't feel the need/responsibility/ownership..." because you definately "drove-by" D&T...
So Dick...just be consistent....

Blame me! I don't give a damn
For the record, I do not blame DED at all for doing what he did. All he did was edit out a word that we are not allowed to use. We still can discuss it without having to write it. What is the big fuss? I thought this was a private board? I remember beinng banned from another private board .....a form of censorship if you will and dg and Sys seemed to agree with that. I don't want to rehash the past but at least you are not being accused of something you did not do or intend. Be thankful we have American Mod's and not some Canadian!
All that has been done is that the n word has been edited, no one has said not to discuss it, everyone knows the word....what is the big deal.
Are we mad because another mod came here and did it, JB would have to do the exact same thing.

The n word did not come up in those discussions....DED and I have went round and round over this issue. He plays fair in this regard.

Nah, WTF, I just used the Ignore list; banning seemed extreme to me and that went for N as well.
As far as DED and n****r (is that ok?): Blind obedience to the rules leads to insane outcomes. Schools have no tolerance rules for guns and end up suspending a 5 year old for bringing a water gun to school on a day that it is 100 degrees out. There is something out there called nuance and this concept called thinking. In this particular case DED neither considered nuance nor did he think very much if at all.
I don't know what JB would have done but it does seem silly for a mod who does not understand the flavor of a particular forum to get involved.

I wonder what little Suzy is going to think when she gets her first taste of rap music and hears the n word every three seconds? As a comedian once said "Black rappers want white people to buy their albums, they just don't want you to sing along." Of course, Twain is not black which is the root of the problem. I'm sure Dick Gregory is not being censored.

I respectfully disagree....he did not suspend you from school. He politely took away your water gun.
Which means nobody/DED thought you said anything in a harmful manner. We can still talk about the concept of bringing guns to school, so in that regard its all good. But if you start shooting your water gun then some other ding dong not as versed as you brings a AK-47. Then we gotta call in Rudyard and his country boy crew to save us all and frankly with him being in a pissy mood , I ain't looking foreward to that.
Look, I agree with you. I think banning certain words is stupid but those are the rules.

That might have merit, probably why DED edited and then hauled ass!

Twain is not being censored....you can still find his books that do not edit his novel. But you now havev a choice on which to buy or read. WTF is wrong with that?

I don't know that I find it fascinating that Huck Finn draws so much of this kind of attention. It's an "easy" target. I'm surprised there's not more of this kind of focus on, Uncle Tom's Cabin, but then it's not nearly as wide read.
Probably same reason "Merchant of Venice" flies under the radar...just not as prominent in the educational consciousness. I don't recall being exposed to it in high school...let alone middle school. By the time one gets to college, one is presumed to be being beyond this kind of nonsense.

Point of order, Mr. Speaker...
It is a private board...to be run however the owner(s) see fit. Given that they have a rather extensive rules section, it ought to be relatively easy to discern their wishes. However, I'm still looking for where it says that a word - any word - can't be used at all...in any context. There are definite rules against referring to any board member or a group in such a derogatory manner...absolutely! That simply didn't happen in this instance.

I don't want to rehash it, either. As long as you don't mischaracterize my position on the matter...there is no need to do so.
I didn't agree with your banning then...I wouldn't have banned you where I in their position. I merely agreed that, under the circumstances, they were w/in their prerogative to ban you should they choose to do so.

As a rule, I do get a little annoyed at "drive by" moderating when it occurs. But, it's certainly DeD's prerogative to do so...I just don't have to agree with it or like it.

I've found DeD to be a good dude and a fair moderator in one of the toughest sandboxes around. All the more reason I was surprised he was the moderator to intervene in a discussion of a community he rarely chooses to interact with.
I just think he got this one wrong, that's all.

It's just a word for Christ's sake!! One that is still celebrated in it's usage by certain segments of society... but not allowed by any others!! To ban it here, as offensive, is the epitomy of selective hypocrisy!!
One would think that an Escort Message Board would be just a bit more liberal in it's freedoms allowed.... makes one wonder just how much Twain's message has come to be understood!!
I wonder what Chris Rock's opinion is on the subject?

Some things, like porn, charging windmills and words not allowed on a internet escort board , are notoriously difficult to define. In 1964, Supreme court Justice Potter Stewart famously opined on the definition of obscenity when he wrote, “…I’ll know it when I see it…”.
Sancho: Oh God, let sir knight realize that it is not a giant he is charging for but only a mere windmill
Oh my, how the past has a funny way of repeating itself!

Well that is pretty damn wishy washy....given that it is a private board, anybody can be banned for anything. Oh and btw...nobody was banned or pointed for using the n word. Nobody has banned us from talking about it. But what you are arguing now is that there is no specific rule, much like there were no specific rule I broke. Yet you vehemently argue one while Ho Humming the other. That was my point. Well within your rights to prioritize I might add but no need to try and blow smoke up my ass as to the past vs the present. I was merely pointing out this effort seems so much more vocal than the last.

Question:
Question:
Should the Constitution have been read before Congress in its original, unredacted form, or as it was, with Amendments in place?

The purpose of reading it was to remind the Congress of the limits of their power. Hence the only logical draft is the one they read - the Constitution as now in effect with all amendments in place.
