You for one. And I don’t hate Tomlin…he’s overrated, but hate is a strong word, even for a hater like you. Weird how you keep tabs on who I like and don’t like.
And no I’ll watch. If that’s ok with “Indy’s all time points leader”?

I don’t keep tabs, I have a memory. My Sig line has nothing to do with the topic. The Pirates just signed Reynolds to a 107 million dollar deal. Richest in Pirates history. They signed Hayes last year to a 75 million dollar deal. As I said, their payroll will go up. Only “suckers” don’t believe that.

A complete rebuild, sell of high priced vets, build up the farm system. don't spend money because the goal was not to compete but to suck to get better draft picks. Now they are in the next phase of the rebuild which is surround some of the young talent with vets they went out and spent money on. Next phase will be to sign some more young talent (already done so with Hayes) to longer term deals - and use the money saved from not spending on payroll the prior 3 years to invest in key acquisitions to help them compete
No guarantee it works, but it is a proven model and what a club like Pittsburgh needs to do to win

Ho Hum. Reynolds signed for 8 years and $107 million. Just like I noted what the plan was. Too bad people are not smart enough to see the plan and realize what is going on. Again, no guarantee it works, but it is a proven model and they are doing exactly what a club like Pittsburgh needs to do to win

Tamba Bay has been pretty successful with the strategy. Small market teams can’t spend their way to winning. Their payroll stays between 80/100 million. They rely on analytics, scouting and development.

Neither can most large market teams. If simply throwing enough money at the team were a sure thing, it would be a Yankees vs. Dodgers World Series every year. Luckily for the other 28 teams, you can't buy chemistry.

Which further makes my point. Money can reduce your margin for error. Small market teams don’t have the money to make up for mistakes.

The Yankees wanted to trade for Reynolds. The Pirates signed him instead
https://twitter.com/dejan_kovacevic/...0AMolspcYxY9QA
That’s certainly something different from them. In the past, they would have traded him instead of paying him $100 million.

... Look about at the profound LACK of SUCCESS other MLB
sides have fared over the years.
Lemme give you one - Seattle baseballers... started playing
I reckon back in 1977. ... Have made the play-offs maybe 5
(five) times IN THEIR HISTORY. ... Might onley be four.
At least the Pirates have Won a World Series Final and
made a few play-off appearances since 1977.

And there are teams that never signed a player for 100 million. The A’s and the White Sox to name a few.

Nice bounce back win for the Buccos tonight. Maggi makes his debut to a rousing ovation.

What a great story he is. Bucs are making some great moves. Bring Cutch back. Bring up a lifer in the minors. Paying Reynolds. It’s all good.

I watch sports because I like watching sports. I could give a fuck about who owns a team, who kneels down or who. doesn't, ectara. The Pirates are playing good ball, and I hope they can keep it up

Sorry Bam - Maggi is a career AA stiff who doesn't belong on this team if they are serious about winning.
