So I really don't think its too much to ask to follow the couple that we do have. If you feel differently, just let me know.

I haven't bothered to even read this thread but I thought I had to point out something; One politician changed his position. Understand, one politician, not a whole party. The entire opening premise is false. So much for discussing this line of bullshit. Carry on.

I'm sorry, but isn't child rearing also a forbidden topic?
Oh, you meant PARENTING, right, Gefilte Fish?
Never Mind. oh yeah, you still haven't explained your comment, slop jaw (great word.. I'll have to use that next time my canoe breaks down on a backwoods section of the scratchatushy river!)
OH, and BarleySwine ... REALLY? You don't think a single pebble can start a landslide? You do in most every other paranoid rant you post!

The Log Cabin Republicans have existed for years as a subset of the Republican Party. Not long ago, a letter circulated signed by 75 Republicans in support of striking down DOMA. Admittedly, most of those signatures came from people who were former mayors, governors, and what have you, meaning many of them have long since retired from seeking public office. However, the fact that such a letter would circulate, and gather so many signatures is a significant change.
If we were like Europe, and had an electoral process that supported a multi-party system, the Republican Party would be split into at least 2 if not 3 separate parties. The "one big tent" philosophy just isn't working anymore. Moderate conservatives, those who reject social conservatism while supporting smaller gov't, fiscal conservatism, and a strong national defense are beginning to wake up and realize that the religious wing nuts have hijacked the GOP and are slowly eating away at it like a cancer.
If this last election taught us anything it is that wedge issues like abortion, gay rights, creationism, and other social issues will keep the GOP out of power until they finally shove the wing nuts where they belong - the fringe.

The disintegration of the Republican Party proceeds apace. As more R's come out for marriage quality, the more Bible thumpers (who already distrust the party) will give up on politics. I love it.

Not drawing any conclusions of course, maybe your problem is that in your family tree its only been a generation or two since your forefathers stopped dragging their knuckles on the ground.
But for what its worth, gays can freely come out of the closet now. Its OK to drop the act.

People have been bringing up that bullshit for about 30 years or so. Try to be original - I know it is hard for old folks, though.

I guess you must be gay! According to your supposition, accusing someone of being gay means you are gay.

A smart guy would chill and leave this one alone, JL. This subject seems to have a rather negative effect on your demeanor.
Not that there's anything wrong with it.

Speaking of supposition, yours is that Gay Marriage contributes to this country's decline?
We disagree there, before this huge oil boom of the last few years, I might have agreed with you as to this country's decline, not so much so now.
I don't walk under ladders, it is a silly belief of bad luck, just like your belief that Gay Marriage contributes to the decline of this country. Lack of education and mismangement of this country's resources will do it.
