So you're saying Nixon was elected to do whatever "deals" he saw fit with the commies even if betraying our most staunch anti-Communist allies in the Southeast Asia?

Nixon was elected on a pledge to extricate us from LBJ's Vietnam quagmire. His first-term foreign policy making was validated by voters who re-elected him in 1972.
He staunchly supported the Thieu regime until he was weakened by the Watergate scandal. The democrat-controlled Congress cut off our military assistance to Saigon in 1974. They're the ones who betrayed our South Vietnamese allies, not Nixon. Learn your history better, little andy.

The Senate doesn't have to hear the impeachment case
Quote:
McConnell himself didn’t respond when asked by reporters earlier this week whether he’d even allow the Senate to hold a Trump trial, though he did show his cards in a statement to POLITICO that the latest presidential quagmire was “laughable to think this is anywhere close to an impeachable offense.”
|
WTF . . . WTF?
SERIOUSLY? Does that seem fair?

McConnell is right. there is no crime at all. using a secure server to "hide" the transcript? the president can classify anything he wants, it's part of his Article II powers under the Constitution which completely takes away this ridiculous claim of "abuse of power". the Intel community has no authority or right to the conversations of the president with foreign leaders, so by obtaining this info via leaks it is illegal, that's why the whistle blower claim doesn't hold water. Trump, as we now know, has been placing transcripts with foreign leaders on this secure server for several years due to leaks. suddenly the Democrats think this is an "abuse of power". their claim of "deal making" is also false and the Ukraine president has said so.
this is going to bring down Biden, not Trump. the last thing Biden needed was renewed scrutiny of his own abuse of power and his son riding his coattails to make sweet deals with China and Ukraine entities in which he has no expertise except he's Corn Pop's boy.
you almost wonder if the Democrats are doing this on purpose to get rid of Corn Pop in favor of the leftists like Warren or Bernie, neither of which can defeat Trump. the core of the Democratic party is moderate and will not vote for Bernie or Warren for president. they will either vote for Trump or not vote at all which is nothing short of a disaster for the Democrats. they needed a candidate that could rally the full Democratic base and neither Warren or Bernie are that candidate.

My ignorance. I thought the inquisition must be heard out. At least the record would reflect an impeachment. But it sucks that, for the history books, the other chamber didn't even get to consider the evidence.

Correct value-less poster.
I think he will be impeached
I do not think the Senate will have a trial.
The House Dems will want hearings to drag this thing out if they're smart to get the simple narrative out that Trump used the office for personal gain. Simple narrative.
May I suggest you study up on independent contractors before posting ever again in this forum.

One of the reasons that politicians and pundits haven’t paid very much attention to young adults is that they don’t tend to vote in large numbers. But between the size of their generational cohorts and increased turnout, something very significant happened in the 2018 midterm elections.

To your first point - yes . . .

But there is more of the younger voters who face mounting medical, scolastic, and living expensive debt to superceded the old guard of the Democratic party in order to elect a visionary like Bernie or Warren. Can you imagine a Bernie and Warren ticket? Oh, I certainly can. Wall street is already gearing up for the possibility.
To your second point - the core will not vote for the incumbent and the voters under twenty-five will not vote at all. As per usual. But that's the fact. The centrists will vote for him. Not the core. Let's "hope" the idealist younger voters turn out for Warren an/or Bernie to make a real, and positive, difference in making America great. Not an embarrassment. Like the POTUS's hidden phone conversations.

if the core is the majority, as you agree, then even if the entire left leaning young democrats turn out it won't be enough.
and did you really say Bernie and Warren are "visionaries"?
visionaries of what??

They may choose to have a trial but I doubt it.
Remember...Mitch held up a SC nominee and lowered the vote count to get another pushed through.
Mitch has Trump by the balls though if the House impeaches like they probably will. What the GOP could do is actually convict Trump and then run Pence....who probably would stand a better chance of getting elected than Trump.
Our right wing nuts would be going bat shit crazy!
