Von, im very sorry to hear about your loss, I recently had to put down my retriever, but classy touch on the Bbq which shows what kind of person you are. If you find the heartless subhuman who did this, perhaps obtaining a couple of very large wharf rats, starving them to day of their death and placing them in a cage with a partition with the maggot who did this with his face covered in honey and slowly raising the partition a half inch hour so they contemplate what's about to happen all while being completely immobilized dosnt serve the proper justice....... But it's a start. I'm very sorry this happened...

Most disturbing post I've ever read. I understand a lot in this world but never why someone would shoot a defenseless animal. There's a special place in Hell for someone like that.

So sorry to hear of your loss and I hope you find justice for your beloved family member and eventually peace for yourself. I don't think you should just drop this and move on until you can be reasonably sure they aren't going to hurt another innocent dog and his family. If they did it once there's a good chance they will do it again. At minimum you should file a police report stating what happened- unless you know who did it and have other plans.

Von, again sorry for your loss. I don't know you personally, so not sure if this is an option...
A few years ago, my buddy lost one of his pets. Someone poisoned it. He posted a hefty reward and in about 2-3 weeks found out who did it. It was a 16 yr old neighbor kid.
That boy disappeared some time later....

The above echoes some of my thoughts as well. I've just read this now, and words are failing me.

My sincere condolences.

Fellow animal lover,
Elisabeth

Police report at a minimum.

Chances are the asshole lives nearby.

Assholes like that are prone to brag. Post a reward.

September it's been 3 years since I lost my friend. Just this past week I started actively looking for someone new. For the first time in my life I am leaning towards aggressive breeds. I realize I am compensating for something.

I don't think it's healthy for grown men to live alone. I know you're sad Von, but it might be good not to wait as long as I have. Go get you another friend. Someone completely different so you won't compare them. It will do you good I think.

Sorry for your loss Von.

I hope you gave them a good beat down and painful torture like pulling out their fingernails and cutting off body parts they will miss like their dicks and balls and ears!

Can you give us some insight? Kids? Surly neighbor? Gang bangers?

Yes please fill us in on the culprit(s). And how did you catch them?

I am curious on the "justice served" but we do not need to know.

Sorry for your loss Von. To some of us our pets are the only family we have, or the only ones we want. To have someone do is an evil person. I hope your "justice" was slow and took a very long time to serve. Just like the others have said, I would loose my mind if someone hurt one of my buddies. And I can promise you they would pay dearly for it.

Von, if you're not at liberty to share the juicy details per whatever justice was dealt out, we'll simply go with the knowledge there's been closure.

Considering the laws governing animal cruelty, it's quite possible the culprit is facing some pretty stiff penalties (and since we've not heard of any vigilante woodchipper stuff in the news of late, we'll assume you took legal action instead.)
