In a pride, a lioness is subservient to a lion..especially the head of the pride. She either follows his lead or he will push her into line. If you read the second link, it tells what happened in more detail (with the females) and how Christian essentially dealt with it. If the female was NOT with the same pride, all bets are off...

Stormy and Misty are two horses I learned about ( Misty of Chincoteague and Stormy, Misty's Foal) and followed when I was young. They lived on Chincoteague Island near Virginia. Misty died in 1972, and Stormy died in 1993. Story @

Comanche was another famous horse in the U.S. He died in 1890, so what I know about him comes from history books. He is one of only two horses in U.S. history to be buried with full military honors.

And, of course, there is Ling-Ling and Hsing-Hsing, the two giant pandas the Chinese government gifted - "Panda Diplomacy" - to the United States in 1972 after President Richard Nixon's visit to China. Ling-Ling died in December, 1992. Hsing-Hsing died in November, 1999. Following Hsing-Hsing's death, the zoo received thousands of letters and cards from people across the country expressing sympathy. I'm surprised no one mentioned them earlier. Their story @

I've had two dogs that suffered from epilepsy. It was always painful to watch them when they had seizures.

I can't recall if it mentions in this article, but the two men went back to Africa one more time and saw him again

Camille, I read the whole article, so sorry that the conservationist got murdered. I am amazed by the mentioning of this so called 6th sense. I kinda do believe in it. Reminds me of synchronicity by Jung

That's "Mister hoity-toity," to you!! I look at an aol account and I really don't like the AOL/Yahoo news feeds. Typically they are fluff and more times than not entertainment as opposed to real news or look to bump site hits (ratings). Ot the news is a day or two later than a real news source be it the WSJ or the NYT. Plus the Times is a "local" paper so they had a bit more into the background. Sorry if I offended.

I agree with your assessment of AOL news; nevertheless, I did take your remark as a jab - my bad.

Oh c'mon guys, people are always teasing one another on here about what articles they read. No biggie
Nina, yes it was very sad what happened to George.
Dian Fossey was another animal activist that met an uncessary horrible end...

Well its an animal related joke
This morning I went to sign my dogs up for welfare. At first the lady said, "Dogs are not eligible to draw welfare." So I explained to her that my dogs are unemployed, lazy, can't speak English and have no frigging clue who their Daddys are. They expect me to feed them, provide them with housing and medical care. So she looked in her policy book to see what it takes to qualify. My dogs get their first checks Friday.
Damn, this is a great country

Yes i saw that movie about her. Unbelievable, that people would do such things out of profit. But it happens.
