Why do you think there are so many gas stations with repair departments around? When automobiles started catching on, they frequently needed to be repaired. With better technology, detergent in oil, and octane in gas, cars needed fewer repairs and drove longer without breakdowns.

Gas stations don't make their real money off gas. They would much rather have you come in the store and buy something. The gas is to get you there but making a few cents a gallon is not what keeps them in business.

I rarely even call them gas stations anymore; I mostly refer to them as convenience stores because I'm there for that a lot more than actually buying gas.
