Sooooo....I took my SB to see the movie today. It was okay.

I'll spare you the details and get to her perspective. We met up at mid-day and went to the early afternoon showing. Got into the theater early so we could sit in the back...got eyed by a couple of folks as they came.

The movie was okay. My SB said the allure of it is seeing this kind of stuff in public with other around. She got turned on (I checked) and thought the sex scenes were toned down to accommodate the "R" rating standards. Since she's read the books she said the movie misses the point of the books and tries to make a movie that is mainstream and misses a lot of point of the book.

We both thought the movie helpfully improved on the book's (or books') dull writing style.

That said it was a bit of a disappointment for both of us. Now I haven't read all the books, just the sex parts, and frankly I'd rather watch porn...which we did back at her place. She said the movie is too tame to represent the books correctly and since NC-17 cuts out too big of a market there is no way to compare the two presentations.

We did enjoy fooling around playing during the sexy scenes. There's only 20 minutes of them so we ended up having some play, um, spill over into the rest of the movie. It's a pretty boring movie. Hell, Showgirls is more titilating.

Sorry to burst any bubbles. However I'm not a lady and only represent the feedback my SB gave me.

It was fun to sit in a dark theater and watch mildly soft porn with complete strangers.

I have read all three books and was really excited for the movie. I saw the week and was highly disappointed. A lot of the stuff from the book was left out, the acting was terribly over dramatic to the point the movie became more of a comedy than a BDSM love story like the books. The books are written at a high school reading level so I don't know why I expected the script and acting to be any better. The sex scenes are kinky at best, but suited for the R rating.

Overall I'm glad I didn't see it opening night and I'm also glad I saw it at a matinee and didn't have to pay full price I will not be returning to see any of the sequels and I'm thoroughly disappointed in the movie.
