A few things; if the Gulf war was all about oil (I mean the second Gulf war, I don't know what was behind the first Gulf war) then why didn't we occupy the oil fields and just let the rest go to hell? There is no oil in Afghanistan you know.
Yes, it is true that some members of the Bin Laden family were allowed to leave this country after 9/11. Two things; OBL was estranged from his family for many years and since when does the US take out our frustrations on a criminals family?

A lot of Americans thought that was an outrage; and had nothing to do with building seven WMDs......

" A POSITION PAPER........"
Do you even know what a Position Paper is? There are probably thousands written by the Federal Government agencies; very few make it into policy.

The lying logic of a CRAZY OLE GUY (COG):
"It is impossible for building 7 to have collapased on its own footprint ...Building 7 collapased on its own footprint...only a controlled implosion can cause a building to collapse on its own footprint....I never said building 7 was a controlled demolition..."
So the question is batshit Crazy Ole Guy; who you think blew up the 3 Towers?...

That does not mean Bush lied. He used WMD's as the means to move the public towards going to war. The public was not willing to go to war over oil. So one could say Bush decieved his true intentions for going to War. I still do not think he lied about WMD's, I think he thought they were there. Powell sure did , that poor bastard was made to look the fool. A Modern Day house boy with that UN presentation!

WE did let the rest go to hell! How soon you forget.
We then realized that they were not going to welcome us as liberators and then we occupied. Of course our contractors got huge contracts in that region.
As far as the first Gulf War, Saddam thought we would not intervene. But Saudi and the rest of the Gulf States thought better of it.

We see your POV, we just do not agree with it.

As usual, you missed my point.....or you are deflecting.
You sound like Jerry Sandusky with this building 7 crap. Nobody can convince you how inapposite your behavior is on this subject. Just keep taking showers with kooks and calling us idiots for not seeing how much fun you are having.

Oh yes it was. Just because it did not bear fruit does not mean that was not our main intention.
You sound like COG and his building 7 crap.Almost every war since the beggining of time has been about resources. No matter what the actual trigger is.
Bush thought this thing would go in a totally different direction than it did. Why do you think they thought the War would pay for itself?

Was in Afghanistan (in more than one location); didn’t see any oil wells. Command was much more interested in acquiring safe and secure sources of water than looking for ‘oil’.
Know a significant number of individuals who deployed to Iraq. Their MOPP training and readiness was seriously enhanced lest Saddam employ WMD against U.S. forces. So real was the concern regarding WMD, U.S. personnel remained in MOPP 1 throughout the invasion. There was fear the NBC detection equipment might fail, so caged pigeons (like miners' canaries) accompanied the troops into action. German and U.S. decontamination units (some newly created for the operation) were deployed to be on-hand should WMD be encountered. Special PAD (Public Affairs Detachments) were deployed to document the discovery of Saddam's WMD. Bush was hoping to score a political coup by publically exhibiting the confiscated WMD; this action, in and of itself, should confirm in any doubter’s mind that Bush actually believed Saddam had WMD.
Furthermore, Bush wasn’t alone in believing Saddam had WMD. Saddam's own generals – and every neighboring country in the region – believed Saddam had WMD! ‘Slick Willie’ also believed Saddam had WMD, and ‘Slick Willie’ initiated his own war – “Operation Desert Fox” – against Saddam.
During Operation Desert Fox, December 16 thru 19, 1998, Clinton approved 600 bomber sorties and the launch of over 400 Cruise missiles over a four day period to disrupt Saddam's weapons program. Operation Desert Fox was a $1 billion dollar operation involving nearly 30,000 U.S. military personnel. Yet, there remain those who simplistically claim: “Bush lied.” But the evidence to the contrary reveals something quite different.
The evidence – the available intelligence at the time – indicated one of two possibilities: 1) nothing was going on, or 2) Sadam was really good at hiding what was going on. Subsequently, the WMD Commission and the Butler report both indicated that the intelligence community was correct in suggesting that Saddam was probably seeking to re-arm his military forces with WMD. That conclusion was, in part, based on these known facts: 1) Saddam had had WMD in the past. 2) Saddam had strong incentives to reconstitute his arsenal. 3) He had the money to refinance such a reconstitution. 4) He had trained, competent technicians who could reconstitute his stockpile of WMDs. 5) He had the necessary materiel on hand to proceed with such a reconstitution. 6) He repeatedly stalled and deceived the inspectors—which begged the question—“What is he hiding?”
Too many would be detractors cannot believe and accept that such gross mistakes in intelligence gathering and analysis can be made. While it might be comforting to some to continue to believe that the evidence supported a conclusion different than that reached by the intelligence community—and that accepted by the Bush administration—that is simply not the case.

IB while I agree with you on WMD's. Nobody said we went into Afgan for oil. That piece of land it important not for oil but for getting oil and gas to other regions. The military secures the region. It does not have to know the reason for securing it.
