And guys, the reason that I said "if you don't understand, ask a gal", is because very few guys know how to use one on a gal. Thus, she has to take command.
So consider practicing an additional way to have a gal smile.

The long piece is walnut. This length similar to perhaps 1/2 the spread of a West Texas Longhorn, if it needs to be fitted somewhere. I've worked with walnut quite a few times, and have access to much larger pieces. I can get three pieces out of this, maybe four.

The shorter piece is purpleheart. A nice gorgeous dark purple-red. It was on the rack right next to the walnut, and I couldn't keep my hands off of it. This is a rainforest wood, one of the densest, and quite waterproof. This will be only the second time I've worked with this wood. First time was to shape a piece that a string instrument repair guy wanted, and his tools couldn't handle it. I had to pick up some extra carbide blades cause other blades can't handle the wood density. I might be able to get three pieces out of this, but, only going for two pieces, because.... never mind.
