You left out the rest (Romney/Ryan will bring spending down to 20% of GDP); and the Obama side of the equation....

If Obama is elected, there will be no time to "sit back and watch the decade tank"....it will happen faster and with more vengeance.

inasmuch as you dont seem to be overly concerned about the romney/ryan timeframe then you admit the budget isnt that big of a deal ... is that correct?

Nope; the Romney plan is to get government spending fixed at 20% of GDP....a more sustainable level than Obama's spending spree....and based on Obama's acceptance speech you have to concede that he wants to ramp up spending even more.

There's this wonderful new thing called Google. You may have heard of it. Here you go.

Set Honest Goals: Cap Spending At 20 Percent Of GDP
Any turnaround must begin with clear and realistic goals. Optimistic projections cannot wish a problem away, they can only make it worse. As president, Mitt’s goal will be to bring federal spending below 20 percent of GDP by the end of his first term:
  • Reduced from 24.3 percent last year; in line with the historical trend between 18 and 20 percent
  • Close to the tax revenue generated by the economy when healthy
  • Requires spending cuts of approximately $500 billion per year in 2016 assuming robust economic recovery with 4% annual growth, and reversal of irresponsible Obama-era defense cuts

[QUOTE=joe bloe;3166632]Social welfare programs create a moral hazard, because they reward people for not working. More and more people, inevitably go on welfare, and the incentive to work is destroyed.

Capitalism creates a "moral hazard" in my opinion. So much corruption that is never revealed, especially in secret, high places. Greed is the path we are following and "greed is the path that will destroy humanity as we know it".

Do you really think there is no greed in a non-capitalist system? The fact is, we don't have a capitalist system in the US. We have "crony-capitalism" which is more fascistic than capitalist. In a true capitalist system, greed is satisfied by providing better quality at a lower price than your competitors. In a crony-capitalist system, greed is satisfied by bribing the government to give you breaks, and stomp out your competition.

Capitalism works better than any other system ever invented. No system is perfect because we humans aren't perfect.

Can you suggest a system that works better than capitalism?
