This is the original title of the Thread.
The OP is looking for to garner support his contention that the term Deck Ape is not an insult.
It does not matter who or how many side with the OP. If another member is insulted or if Staff finds slang terms insulting, there will be consequences.
Several of you need to check your pm's and decide if you still wish to post off topic. dj8
OP, if you are having difficulty contacting biomed1, feel free to reach out to me.

My intent was to expose them and insult them at the same time. If they were not a sailor then there was not insult as it would fly over their head. If they were a sailor, but not a boatswain mate, then no insult again. Since the moderator has admitted that he only acted because some very ignorant, thin skinned people RTM'd the post. There are some who see any usage of a simian nature as some claim of racism. The moderator should have taken this into account, should have asked me my intent, and should have ignored the usual gang of idiots.
So how many sailors are lurking here? I don't know but it seems to me that the veterans are not too confused or concerned about using such epitaphs. All moderators should pay attention to that.

Being just a Brat and not in the service asked, I clarify my position here.
I would recommend that if CK is in any position here from Mod or above, he should be the one handling this thread since he is a noted for his service aboard ships.
*I* agree with the OP that it is a term of endearment. Too many people get noses bent out of joint (see my Grand Tornino post.)
