Predictions anyone?

Here are some predictions sure to go wrong (with apologies to Mike and Mike):

First, I believe Romney will win. He'll take Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, and he'll get one of the split Maine votes. He'll squeak out a win in Ohio, Wisconsin, and Colorado. Obama will carry Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Iowa, Michigan, and Nevada. Romney 276, Obama 262.

However, for those of us that honestly love politics...think of this: if Obama wins a second term, there's no way Joe Biden gets elected President; he might not even get the nomination. If he does, he's toast; Dan Quayle could beat him, and that's saying something. So the Republicans will ride a huge wave in 2016, similar to the landslide that swept Ronald Reagan into office; they get a Republican House and Senate, and they'll fix everything that Obama fucked up in his time in office. It'll just take longer than we want.

... I'm looking for the "late returns" long after the polls are closed to assure there are sufficient votes to carry the electoral votes in the state.

That's not late returns you're looking for...it's vote fraud. Old man Daley stole that election for Kennedy in one of the most massive cases of vote fraud this side of the Iron Curtain. Thousands of dead people voted...thousands of homeless people voted for citizens who were known not to vote...thousands more were intimidated into voting for Kennedy when they wanted to vote for Nixon, and Daley masterminded it all. Nixon should should have won that election. Now that's not to say he would have been a better president, but just like with the hanging chads, the wrong guy moved into the White House.

If Obama wins, being president in 2016 will be a very unpleasant task. After another four years of Obama, this country will be broken beyond repair. This election is our last chance to begin to turn things around under the leadership of someone who loves the country.

True, but we don't live in a democracy. That's the biggest fallacy of them all. We live in a republic. In a true democracy, the people make all the decisions. In a republic, the people elect the people who make the decisions.

America was designed as a republic. Unfortunately, because we've abandoned the Constitution, over time, we've morphed into a defacto democracy.

Majority rule has driven us to the brink of bankruptsy. Politicians have given the mob what it wanted since the thirties and FDR's New Deal, without regard for the Constitution. Now, we've finally run out of other people's money.

If Obama wins, as Buffet predicted the housing market comes back (as it is showing indicators of doing already) and we ride a wave of slowly growing economic growth and prosperity into 2016 despite the toils and tribulations of Europe and Japan into 2016, getting out of Afghanistan and not putting boots on the ground in Syria or Iran and everybody is thankful that the foreign policy nitwit (not to mention the macro-economic nitwit) Romney didn't get into office with his neo-com PNAC nitwit advisors.

Except that we've HAD a natural disaster, and most of the areas hit bad are heavily Democratic, are they not? If the aftermath of Sandy holds the Democratic vote down even slightly, with as close as this race is, that will spell doom for the President. If only one in ten Obama voters stays home in those areas, that's ten percent of the people who would have voted for him. In a race that he leads by ten points or less, even if some Romney voters also stay home, Romney closes the gap in some states and passes Obama in others, because Obama voters are more likely to stay home by virtue of the number of them who are disappointed in the first four years.
