He said no such thing.

He said the one thing reminds him of the other thing. That is not the same as saying they are on the same level.

I see a book of matches and I'm reminded of forest fires (there used to be a series of public service commercials w/ Smokey the Bear once upon a time). They are not the same thing.

In Old-T's example I suspect the one reminds him of the other because he views both words as pejoratives -- designed to minimize another or offend.

I don't view the word whore as a pejorative, so I disagree with Old-T's opinion. But it wasn't a stupid thing he said.
