It costs what it cost and the reasons for the costs have been gone over. It is what it is and the only alternative is not to make any of these types of trips - taking public transportation, staying at Motel 6 and eating at McDonald's aren't in the picture. If you think that is the correct solution, good for you. As I told Trendaway, this is a silly, false economy that is designed only to give the casual thinker something to complain about.
