Fuck those co-called charities, too.
Very, very few of the most famous charities actually provide any significant amount of money to the needy/sick.
That includes the American Cancer Society and any organization that has anything to do with pink ribbons.
Most of them spend about 90% of their donations on salaries, organizational expenses, advertising. When you question them about it, they will tell you how much of their purpose really is about "raising awareness" and how that is just as important as giving money to the needy.
If the only way a charity can raise money is if it is tax deductible, may be people don't actually care that much about the charity to begin with.
A few worthwhile charities that serve the truly needy will easily survive the elimination of the tax deduction. Meanwhile, all those arts and museum charity scams will fall by the way side - or at least they will no longer reduce tax revenues because some rich California socialite wanted to add a new $60 million wing to the Getty museum.
