Ever see a C-5A Galaxy fly? Ever see one fly over your head at 1000 feet? F*cking awesome!

On a couple of occasions, Uncle Sam chauffeured me on the C-5. Awesome!

They did the original C 5 test flights over my house near Atlanta. I also got to Altus AFB OK for C 141 training two weeks after they had an engine fall off a C 5 there. They had removed all the engines on the ones there - it was a fleet of ten C 5 gliders - really strange seeing them all with no engines.

AC-130 Gunship. I flew them in Southeast Asia. It's a hoot making things blow up underneath you.

Talking about gliders (we've left them out), what about the Waco from World War II?

ugly, slow, flight charactistics of a brick. think of the balls to get in a ride one into combat.

What riding lawn mower inspires you?

1) John Deere LA115 42 inch or the Craftsman YT 4000 42 inch? It's hard to pick a favorite; they both make me proud to be an American.

I actually look up when any aircraft flies overhead which can take a lot of time considering I live near Addison airport in Texas.

Faves: (sorry, no links or pics, I just ain't that computer literate)
B29 - there is one based at Addison now and I watch it until it is out of sight.
Beechcraft Starship - way ahead of its time, a really elegant design IMO

A few years ago I found myself near where the only flying Constellation was practicing for an airshow. Damn that thing was maneuverable.

Way back in the 50s our family lived in Europe and traveled back and forth in one of those.

My Dad was a former B-24 Pilot in WW2 and I remember him taking me up to the cockpit for a visit. Dad had a martini with the pilot while I got to seat in he copilots lap and hold the controls.

....and no.
Nobody asked me if I liked galdiator movies.

It sure was a different world back then!

Did the pilot ask if you had ever seen a grown man naked, or hung around a gymnasium?

Forgot this one:

Boeing Stratocruiser ... airliner based on fuselage and wings of B29 ... flew from San Francisco to Honolulu when I was 1st or 2nd grade ... reached upstairs lounge via circular staircase ... such an improvement over the DC3s and Convair 440s my dad flew.
