Defense spending is what really at issue here.

If they do nothing to SS, it will come down to paying those old fuc'ers or cutting Defense spending....or printing more money.

So what you have are a bunch of stupid old fuc'ers that do not ever want to cut Defense spending , nor their benifits and are to stupid to realize that they will be paid out in discounted dollars.

I am not saying that is a good thing , just the reality. I plan to plan accordingly.

Oh, and another thing. The Democrats low ball ten year cost estimate for Obamacare was 940 billion. That's the estimate they used to get their horrible bill passed. The revised ten year cost estimate is 1.76 trillion. The difference between the bogus low ball estimate and the more realistic (probably still optimistic) estimate is 820 billion dollars. That's more than the inflation adjusted cost of the Vietnam War. It's usefull to keep all the social welfare and military spending in perspective. If America goes bankrupt, it's funding the welfare state that will do us in. IMHO

You must have forgotten about Iraq and Afgan and that 4 trillion dollar cost.

Do you understand that SS and Medicare have paid for themselves? Do you understand that we have not paid for these wars? How can you say the welfare state is the problem? Set aside a dedicated tax for military spending and let SS raid the surplus and then who would you blame? The military! WTF? I just follow the money and then call it like I see it.

Defense spending has always been the "third rail" that nobody wants to touch. Not so much for the protection of the Country, but more so for the jobs it creates.

A good example is the Navy. Most people do not know that as soon as one Aircraft Carrier and Nuclear Submarine is launched, another is started. This keeps a highly skilled workforce on the job, and keeps thousands of vendors busy.

These are the jobs we must keep.
