What is your problem on this topic? I had at least two ideas I expressed rather directly:
--The decision of only liberty or only security is a false one
--It's a complex topic that deserves a serious non-politicized national debate
And no, I do not have an overly simplistic one sound bite answer to a difficult problem. But is difficult to have a productive debate if people want to only acknowledge an all or nothing decision space.
I am willing to give up my freedom to carry a loaded gun on a plane. I find it much less acceptable to give up my freedom to carry a gun on the street. I am more willing to have gun registration than gun confiscation. I am willing to give up private ownership of assault rifles much quicker than private ownership of handguns.
Will every sane person agree with me? No, of course not. But I will not claim to have "the answer" until the debate is had and I have heard the opposing views.
Not really sure why you think it's so clear and simple a problem.
