Can't we get back to the purpose of this thread, discussing Voltaire?

Actually, maybe I have a point, the most popular does not mean the most reputable, I don;t think in the UK the PM would consider being interviewed by the most popular newspaper, unless he was having a policy of slumming it. He might consider being interviewed by an establishment figure on The Times.

Since when was popularity an indicator of reputation?

Backto the bashing.

I'm a huge Voltaire fan. I think he was an early conservative. Reading Voltaire is like reading Thomas Jefferson. The political differences between Voltaire, and his intellectual nemesis, Rousseau are very similar to the modern day differences between liberals and conservatives. It's basically the difference between a political philosophy based on rational thought and a political philosophy based on emotion; not much has changed.

"Obama doesn't call on Fox because he doesn't want to be embarrassed" by the facts, challenging questions, Obama wants softball pressers...

The mark of the adolescent loser, continued shouting and repetition. They hope to deflect from the fact that they got their ass handed to them and to bully others into accepting their "facts" despite the evidence.

I guess Big Tex hasn't read Pravda lately. They are more right than the WSJ nowadays.

It doesn't surprise me that President Obama doesn't do interviews on FOX news. FOX is known to be the most conservative of the major American news networks so he has little to gain and much to lose to do any sort of interview on it.

I would expect the same thing from any conservative President to avoid say, MSNBC.

It really doesn't surprise nor shock me in any way that any politician would do anything other than cater to their voter base (which is really how our system of government should theoretically be working anyways).

What you expect and reality are 2 completely opposites.....our most conservative modern presidents (Reagan and Bush II), regularly fielded questions from the liberal press and did extensive interviews with liberal journalists and reporters...............

Another liberal lie to cover up for Obama......how does the juice taste going down? Is it bitter, sweet, or bittersweet ?

Most conservative? It's not much of contest. Fair and balanced just seems conservative when all your competitors are Marxists.

If Obama was constantly attacked by conservative journalists with 95% media control, the way all Republican politicians are, he'd be forced to resign and probably go into hiding.

+1..........

Obama would have been forced to exit on Air Force 1 back to Chicago after lying about _____ (pick one from the list located here: http://obamalies.net/).

I would actually disagree that Reagan and Bush II were extremely conservative if you compare him to the conservatives of today. Reagan did things like raise taxes on the top 10% (and did decrease overall taxes on the lower 50%) and the national debt significantly ballooned under the administrations of both Presidents. The conservatives of today staunchly oppose both raising taxes at all and increasing the national debt. That being said, under Reagan, we did have a long peacetime economic boom as well.

For Bush II interviews with MSNBC, I could only find one with a quick Google search that he did with Matt Lauer on Decision Points. I'm not saying that he did not do any interviews with MSNBC, but I am saying that it doesn't make sense for any politician to really spend any significant amount of time trying to cater to an audience that isn't interested in voting for them.

Not once did
Whiny offer one shred of evidence supporting his "I'm pretty sure that" claim.

But he instead interrogates me as if I made the questionable claims. And then makes it about me, not the subject. Please show me where you didn't give out blow jobs in the Salina bus station Whiny. It's a simple question. Please provide evidence that you didn't do that! Links too.

What's wrong with that picture? ANSWER THE QUESTION WHNY! ANSWER THE QUESTION!

Reagan did what Obama refuses to do. He compromised with a democratic congress. He was conservative and did what he could. Bush 2 was not a fiscal conservative and neither were the republicans in congress during his term so I agree with you on that.

I would argue that if a president is claiming to represent everyone then he should be willing to be questioned by people from all points of view. If he can't answer the difficult questions then he should rethink his positions. Hiding from them just demonstrates the weakness of his policies.
