I just can not tell you the amount of people who've messaged me saying, something like, "your rates have gone up, such and such and I would see you if only your rate were such and such," but I could post some ridiculously rock bottom rate and they won't visit. In my experience, higher rate = true gentlemen. Someone I considered a gentlemen (met him before) canceled last minute today on a multi-hr appt. Now, I'm a reasonable and patient person, but this makes the third weekend in a row that he did this, so now I am thinking to myself that he made me a plan B or it was just some sinister deliberate act, which I alway save for a last thought.

Anyway, thank God for the gentlemen who understand we are real people and what they do really does affect us.

Admittedly I know nothing about the ins and outs of how a provider costs out her services. But I think the market should be the final arbiter.

If she's insane enough and overcome with GPS then the market will sort that out.

In the end I think it all rights itself.

Charge what you think works best for you and alter it one way or the other if necessary until you hit that sustainable price point. And I'll pay what I can afford, and see who I can afford. It ain't that complicated.

These discussions are funny to watch unfold on here from time to time regarding pricing elasticity of demand and it's effects on total revenues, more specifically in this case analyzing cross elasticity of demand subsequent to a $10 discount. I too have wondered whether providers are operating at the point of unit elasticity on the demand curve but as Citizen44 has discovered, it's hard to have a discussion on the subject no matter how fascinating one might find it.

Maybe we should get back to talking about fried chicken, taint, and where the good places to stay in Houston are located? How bout that jadaveon clowney fella?

What this thread has driven home is that most of us guys think of maximizing revenue and minimizing retirement age. Others are solving for a minimum acceptable level of income that minimizes hours worked and maximizes leisure time. Having been married I should already have known this and not even bothered.

No, you’re reading this with a jaundiced, misogynist eye even if you hadn’t added the “having been married” part a blind man could see that. What the ladies that understand this gig are saying is that by raising your rates, you are MAXIMIZING your overall revenue. If you are slow, raise your minimum rate. Get out of the peak of the bell curve of competition. You can grandfather clients that you like in at your old rate. Your clients will be better, and you can read that to mean clients better than you. And you will get more multi-hour clients.

I took clients that I didn’t particularly care for, but if you were a repeat client that saw me pretty much once a month (I had many clients like that.) and you represented an annual revenue of $4,200 I’d put up with your and your shit. In other words, if what I made off of you I could pay my annual spend on health or auto insurance, I could pretend to like someone like you. Similar to how you pretend to like working girls but deep down consider all women whores – you know like your ex-wife.

I had, and still do, have an enormous of leisure time, but I can assure, I wasn’t in the habit of turning down clients. I just worked smarter not harder. Maybe you should take a leaf from our book.

I've met a lot of women for whom I have a ton of respect because they come to this industry because it offers the best way for them to take care of their kids. Just an amazing degree of self sacrifice. You should try having a little more sympathy for those for which life isn't so easy or straight forward. That high price / low volume lifestyle you have is due to DNA inherited from your parents, not from anything you worked for or accomplished.

I have no problem with women charging what they wish. I have my budget and make exceptions every now and then. I've been around long enough to know what I want and what I'm willing to pay.
