Whatzup are you a glutton for punishment? Adolf Hitler was a member of the Socialist Party in the early 20s. He was sent to spy on the National Socialist Party. He found that their brand of socialism and nationalism more to his liking. Hitler was a leftist, the Nazis were leftists, historical revision has tried to cast them as right wing because they had to seperate them from the noble communists they attacked in 1941. I could supply you with a short list of books but you need help with reading.

Please do. The Third Reich's first targets were Communists and other left-wing political groups. At least that's the way they explained it at Dachau, where the first of these political prisoners were interred.
Im sure you've got those books too. I suggest you read them before you burn them.

Do we really want to debate the merits of Hitler's fascism and Lenin's communism? If practice, how different were they? Not much. So let's stay as far away from either of them as we can.
Whenever the government seeks to control behavior, they lean one way or the other. How about getting government out of the control business? Let people do what they want, how they want and with whom or whatever they want, so long as they don't interfere with someone else's right to do the same thing? What is so terrible about that?

Far right and far left lead to the same place. Tyranny.
I think the Constitution of the US exhibits the best attempt to limit the power of government. Of course it had its flaws, and still does. But I think pulling the federal government within the confines of the Constitution, where it belongs, is the best place to start.
We can then amend the Constitution to update those areas which may be archaic, and to keep up with the times. However, the principles espoused in the Constitution will never be archaic, but the means of implementation may grow out of date. It's not a perfect document, but it is the best there is out there.

It's going to take an economic disaster like the last one we had except in the next one the government doesn't rescue the financial system and doesn't provide a stimulus to save the country from Depression. And frankly, I'm not sure even that will do the trick. People are so ill-educated and susceptible to snake oil salesmen in the corporate owned MSM they'll believe anything. I think even 25+% unemployment won't be enough.

"Liberal Fascism" by Jonah Goldberg is a great book that explains how violence and oppression almost always come from the left end of the political spectrum.

An economic collapse will turn us against each other. As George Orwell explained, we need an outside threat to keep the country united. Whether it's real or manufactured.

I was thinking "The Hitler Myth" by Kershaw would be a good starting point. He is a recognized authority on Hitler.
