I think the word 'photoshop' gets a bad rap, too. The 'old school' method of photoshopping I think MOST PEOPLE think of is somebody on a computer turning a 190lb woman into a 140lb woman. Or the reverse, say, a 90lb waif of a woman into a 125lb sexpot.

That's just HACK, bush-league work. No pro is going to do that and put his/her name on the pic. No way. So, that kind of work only exists for...parody or something. No one would do it and consider it 'real' photography.

Photoshop in the real world of photography would be, but not limited to, removing a couple pimples, or maybe her face is a little too red. We'll take some of that redness out. Or maybe her teeth could be whiter (if she's smiling). We may then take some of the saturation out of the 'yellow' in the lighting. Or, a string of hair may have blown in her face, ruining a great shot. We'll take that strand of hair out of her face. Or, maybe the grass isn't green enough. We'll 'green' up the grass, to add vibrance to the picture. Maybe the lighting is a bit too harsh. We'll 'soften' the lighting as needed.

The above all fall under 'photoshop' in some way (there are other ways to edit, too). But it's nothing close to shaving 40lbs off, or adding 15lbs , or making boobs bigger.

Again, pics CAN BE edited on a phone. There are basic edits that come with newer phones, and there are apps that you add on that do edits.

Every picture you see in the world, in magazines, billboards, wherever. They're edited. That's just the way the world works. Many photographers shoot in a standard setting because they know they're going to edit later on.

Saw these selfies and they automatically made me think of this thread. Makes you want to rush right out and see her!

I apologize in advance. I don't mean to disparage this woman. It's just that her selfies made me think of this thread.

I like pics where she looks like a normal person mixed in with dirtier ones.

pics are crucial, remember men are VISUAL. what you write in your showcase isn't going to draw us in more then pictures

I have never paid for professional pics....all mine are from a good camera and a good cell phone.................I just add some lighting effexts and crop what I need cropped.....all are shot at spur of moment in a realistic way.

I have never had any gent have a problem with them......I think "natural" pics are the best if done tastefully!!

Selfies are fine if done well. Don't like seeing a toilet in the background like you see on BP.

Yeap, double edge sword as I've never taken selfies. I tried once, but the entire process seemed weird and completely foreign. Now give me a tripod and remote, there's a combination I can understand.

I noticed that the really hot chicks, I mean the straight up DOLLS, those types that are 'superhero fine', as in, you can use their bodies as a model for a comic book character, seem to love doing photo shoots. Maybe they get off on showing the world how insanely hot and glamorous they are.

Selfies seem to be the compensator way of doing it, for ladies that are 'just ok'.

Or is it just me who sees this??

I think a lot of people equate pro pics with Photoshop and touching up, so it's understandable many of them would say they prefer a selfie. Any pro or "pro" photographer reading this, please pay special attention to this point: stop with the damn Photoshop already!! Find a good angle, adjust the lighting, coach the subject on better poses, whatever, just leave the final product the fuck alone! Quit trying to make them look like some artificial Pixar movie.

That so not true....and probably the crappiest thing I've read on your take concerning any of the ladies.

It's all fine and good until the judges do a number, until their own insecurities kick in, or simply when they get less enthusiastic about it. It is what it is....

Whatever, dude. I've already explained what's 'REAL' photoshop vs over the top, fake, hack, BS photoshop. Camera's today are ridiculously good (albeit expensive...but good) at what they do. That's just the way technology is. Some guy in a lab coat sacrificing his/her weekends trying to make everything you currently love twice as good as it already is. Only on Eccie is everyone trying go to back into the Stone Age because somehow, someway, the best is 'too good', so they all, you all, want less quality.

This is craziest thing I've ever seen. The next time you're watching a football game on a 70", curved, superDEF TV, where you can see the air come out of the ball as Brady deflates it, go and tell Panasonic, LG, Zenith, and Sony that they're making the technology worst because this is 'not real'.

A smart business person listens to their customer base. In this market it seems we ECCIE people, prefer real over fake. Fake pics of beautiful women are great but not when the woman is the actual product. Any woman can look hot or fine when taking photos with a pro but not every woman can look great in a selfie. I think "just ok" women go see pros and look super hero hot in their pics, not what I desire to buy. These are your words not mine. If the providers are listening they will certainly see what we ECCIE people desire and advertise accordingly. Do not mean to dash your hopes of being the "photographer to the whores" but your own advertising could might be looked at. And we ECCIE people, the actual customer base here which includes any posting here, are just as important to this community as you are or anyone else, even if we differ on opinion. Insulting us ECCIE people will not build a whore clientele for anyone.

I completely accept that is what YOU prefer in photos. Some of us have other preferences.

Yes, I want honest photos, but I also want honest SEDUCTIVE photos. The whole seduction part is a piece of what I look for, and that typically means quality photos. Most selfies are not that, though some selfies can provide useful personality insights when used to accompany a core set of professional photos.

I accept differences of opinion. I just don't like being insulted or judged when my opinion happens to differ. It does not make my opinion wrong. In fact opinions can never be wrong but they can be changed. I respect everyone's opinion and I listen when my customers speak out. I merely point out what is obvious to me, you can take for what it is or twist to fix what you desire. Either way no skin off my nose. But sir I respect ALL opinions. I prefer realistic as opposed to all dolled up, I also like seductive but more realistic.

Does the sandwich I buy at Arby's ever look like the one on the billbord, never does, and I know that going in there. I prefer it to look more realistic but I am obviously in the.minority when it comes to the fast food market. Again no skin off my nose. Differing in opinion is not disrespectful.

I did not say your opinion was disrespectful--and I apologize if my post came across that way. It was not my intent.

Funny you use a fast food sandwich metaphor. So, you want a quickly thrown together sandwich that's been sitting lopsided in a pile of other sandwiches, instead of getting one sandwich that's made the right way, one layer at a time, fresh for you?

You know, if you demand it, these places will make your sandwich 'look like the picture' sandwiches. The fact that everyone is 'so happy' with the 'hurry and feed me' sandwich that they don't care how it looks. They take the crappy looking, lopsided sandwich and roll on.
