of his old friend Syd Barrett, founder of Pink Floyd.
Syd suffered from Schizophrenia and left the band
before they made it big.

Waters credits much of the bands success to the
inspiration of Syd. Syd died in 2006.

The funny thing about that story is that they were recording "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" when they figured out it was him!!!" Just some mad (crazy) looking geezer hanging about the studio with a toothbrush occasionally brushing his teeth!

David Bowie has often said that Syd Barret is one of the main reasons that he became a singer, so here he is performing with David Gilmour & Rick Wright the first Pink Floyd single "Arnold Layne."

This is supposedly a photo of Syd Barret at the "Wish You Were Here" sessions. By coincidence, I first saw this photo just a couple of weeks ago. This guy's LSD induced mental breakdown inspired some of the greatest music of all time.
