Is there a place to read about the history of ASPD.NET itself and to learn about its disappearance?

I used it extensively for several years and had many posts. Then, one day it was gone and I was up a creek without good resources or my records for references, etc. So, I'm curious what happened to all that great information, the databases for it, etc. (wish I could get my reviews back). Is it just gone?

This is probably well-known to many of you, but I just don't know where to find it.

Thanks. I checked out eRAPS. It had about 6 of my about 60+ posts and reviews. Wish it had 'em all.

The history of the inception of ASPD was interesting--thanks Shooter for that link--but it still leaves me asking why ASPD disappeared and eRAPS appeared.

It's there. Due to the results of a hack of ASPD in Feb. '09 in which all the data was moved into a single forum, a large amount of data that was not returned to public view by the staff then, when ASPD returned online in Apr. '09, remains out of view on ERAPS.
If you contact staff there and tell them what you're looking for, they can find it and restore it to public view for you.
Likewise, they can direct you to information there regarding the end of ASPD and the creation of ERAPS, as well as answering any further questions you may have on that subject.

For reasons not posted publicly on Eraps, the last month or two of posts on ASPD were not restored, but there was a lot of acting out going on so all you missed were members and staff behaving at their worst.

No, with the exception of a few flaming posts, it was actually only the last week of posts that weren't restored. The reasons have been discussed previously on ERAPS and the subject remains open for discussion there should anyone have any interest in exploring it.

It's possible it's been fixed since I last checked, but I think there are some things that are squirrelly with the search database or search function.

If you search for all your posts, the first screen tells you something like 1-10 of 50 posts. However, if you scroll through the list, the count keeps going up. You'll end up with something like 40-50 of 120 posts. Keep going and it will top out around 400. However, your older posts are actually there, it's just that they don't show up in the search function when you search for your own posts.

So, even if you don't find what you're looking for, that doesn't mean it really isn't there.

I had my profile removed from eRAPS. No action at all on the board. 3 provider postings on eRAPS to 30 postings on eccie.net on a given day. The chat room is a grave yard. The people in the forums are hateful. Just all kinds of ugly. This is so much more a home feeling than eRAPS could ever be.
