You have to give Adav8s28 a ton of credit though. He's probably going to be closest to the number of people who ultimately die from COVID 19, counting deaths after December 31, 2021. And he and Eccieuser would be neck and neck if we were looking at Excess deaths, being the number of additional people who died because of the COVID epidemic in 2020 and 2021. And finally Adav8s28 went out on a limb. We all made fun of him, and he ended up closer to the truth than everyone, except Eccieuser and Dr. James Lawler.

The idea was to guess the number of deaths up through and including December 31, 2021, so that’s for 2020 and 2021 combined. The contest wasn’t to guess the number of deaths in 2020 or 2021 alone.

Like the election of 2020, we're never really going to know. Many people died of other causes but were found to have Covid. Covid with a death rate among normal people of less than 1%. Still, Covid was put down on the death certificate as a contributing factor. Like the guy who fell off a house and died. Turned out he had Covid but was asymptomatic. The die hards say that he probably fell because he was feeling bad.

See Eccieuser's post #448, one page back in this thread. Eccieuser predicted 323,001 deaths, adav8s28 predicted 1,569,600.

Your guess was "less than 63,000." I believe I tried to get you to provide a single number, to be able to compare to other entrant's numbers.

As to the numbers being fake (The Waco Kid) and people dying of other causes (Barleycorn), you need to explain why there were 503,000 more deaths in 2020 than 2019, while the CDC only chalked up 345,000 deaths in 2020 to COVID. That's why I said if we were counting the number of excess deaths attributable to the COVID pandemic in the USA, adav8s28, with the highest guess (1,569,600) might be the winner.





While we didn't have a contest for the total number of people infected, I bet Dilbert's guess, 90 million, was pretty darn good. The reported number is 54 million cases, but count the people who had COVID and never went in for a test and 90 million may be close to the mark.

There is a distinctive scientific/medical difference between dying OF Covid (or any disease/illness) and dying while having been tested "positive" for Covid (or any disease/illness).

Now ... one of the physician-scientist-experts posting on Eccie .. please list the physical parts of the body that Covid attacks to result in the death of any given person. Thank you!

That academic exercise is similar to the medical examiner rendering an opinion as to "the manner" of death as opposed to a physician rendering an opinon as to "the cause" of death. There is a distinction with a difference. A critical difference.
