Daylight Savings Time DOES NOT effect the length of days. Sorry to burst your bubble. The days would have the same length, relative to their time of year, with or without DST.

never said daylight savings time effected daylight hours, just the opposite. daylight hours are the reason for daylight savings time

several people said longer days summer shorter days winter, self included

you said you were pretty sure that was wrong

apparently after deciding to read my question regarding the sun/earth rotation and its effects on the seasons, you decided to include "relative to their time of year"

good boy, slow, but good nonetheless.

You didn't read my post, as usual. You jumped to the wrong conclusion, also as usual.

Are you fucking kidding me? Hours of daylight are dependent on Daylight Savings Time or not?

Please tell me you're not that stupid.

ok you yahoos got some facts about DST wrong.

Nixon had nothing to do with dst. in fact it wasn't even started in 1970.

DST was started in 1918 under Woodrow Wilson. It was repealed after the end of WWI; in the process of overiding Wilson's veto.

FDR brought it back during WWII. it been with us ever since.

kayla - dst wasn't for farmers, they hated it.

I've seen news stories about the larger earthquakes moving the axis, but have never been able to find out if these movements (which I assume are random in direction) have resulted in a measurable deviation form the normal wobble. Specifically, can this offer partial explanation of the unseasonably warm winter in North America coincident with the unseasonably cold winter in Northern Europe this year?

Anybody have info?
something like that.

all those earthquakes that took place last year appears to have an effect on the planets orbital mechanics. the planet actually slowed down last year. It slowed down some. it wasn't alot, but it was enough to effect some odd climate patterns.
