We are still well below (2-3 out of 10) the level of vaxxed population that is needed for herd immunity. Maybe, just maybe, Omicron isn't nearly as serious and will get us to that point without massive death counts.

Yes.

As you know the Omicron variant is much more infectious than other variants.

Officially 130,000 people per day are being infected with COVID. Unofficially (counting people who got it and weren't tested), more.

Use the official number (130,000 per day). Assume each person is infectious for a 7 day period. So right now the total number of infectious individuals would be around 7 x 130,000 = 910,000. According to the CDC, 73% of new cases are the Omicron variant. So assume 0.7 x 910,000 = 637,000 people have Omicron and are infectious..

South Africa reports each person infected with Omicron on average infects about 2 to 2.5 others (R = 2 to 2.5). In the UK they're reporting 3.5 to 4. To be conservative lets assume each person infected goes on to infect 2 others (R = 2) over a 7 day period.

Then at the end of eight weeks, you'd have 244 million people who were infected with the Omicron variant.

That won't happen, as R will go down as Omicron goes through the unvaccinated and previously uninfected (perhaps less than 60 million Americans) like wildfire. And through many others with pre-existing immunity, who will have on the whole have less severe symptoms.

I'm kind of curious what kind of response you'll come back with. I'm intentionally providing fodder for your vitriol.

I kind of have a variant of Covid. I am a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon. They finally started leaving me the fuck alone though recently because I guess they figured out I never paid dues. So technically, maybe I'm not a member now. I never cared to check either way, but it's still on my resume.

in my area they sayin death rate of the un-jab is only 14% higher that the jab.

And they seem having a hard time with is it C19 or this years flu. So think ops a few c19 deaths just may really be the flu. LOL I'm waiting for the NYS flu jab mandate LOL

What you left out, maybe because the numbers aren't out yet is, how many have died from Omicron? Isn't that the biggest concern? I keep hearing that there has been one death in the US, in a person that had Omicron. If that is true. look at all this hysteria of shutting down again if this variant isn't killing as much as Delta did.
