Strictly speaking, not true. He won the Travers later than year. He also raced his four year old season and did quite well before entering stud.

However, he wasn't much count in the breeding shed and was sold by Calumet after a few years at stud, as I recall. Never had much of an impact on the breed.

Veni, Vidi, Vici, ("I came, I saw, I conquered" - the traditional order for Caesar's famous words - but I do understand DG's intent ). Phonetically, this quote should be pronounced “Weni, Widi, Wici,” because in Latin the "V" is enunciated as a "W". In my younger, college days, I did not know this. The result was that I mispronounced these words for some time. On one occasion, I had a young lady tell me she didn’t know about the “Veni” or the “Vici,” but she did know about VD.
