I suppose Albuquerque would be out of the question for a family fun time, eh?

Hey, you know my opinion by the first post, treat everyone equal. No rich bias, no poor bias. Lol, but there is nothing unpatriotic about a vacation to another country, c'mon, that's a stretch.

The income tax is inherently evil, and gives too much power to government. There is a reason why the income tax is included in the Communist Manifesto. If we want real prosperity for everyone, we will adopt the Fair Tax. Don't even respond against it unless you have read it.

Better than what we have now, but the flaw as stated before is no control over other countries collecting taxes for us. Canada (or another country) creates a new law that exempts American purchases and we will all be ordering goods over the internet from Canada to avoid that 23% tax. Unless you are going to ban all shipments to private citizens?

Someone will find a way to tax imported goods as they come through customs so the fair tax is the best option I have seen. Besides being simple and fair it places the same tax burden on foreign manufactured goods as on domestically manufactured goods.

Well, like I said, I would support it but they have been at it since 1995 and if they haven't come up with a solution yet...ijs...

Some good stuff and some stupid stuff. I believe in one tax level, no loopholes, and everyone, EVERYONE, is in the game. So I guess I go with a consumption tax. Yes, you could leave the country to buy your high ticket items but people do that anyway. Remember the 10% Clinton surcharge on yachts that all but killed the American boating industry? If are the kind of person who sails the ocean and is willing to spend $300,000+ why not go to Bermuda to buy your boat. There are many others who will spend their money (and that includes foriegn visitors) right here in the USA. Congress can't reward their friends (and be rewarded) with loopholes. Oh, a percentage... I do like the biblical 10% but I understand that currently we need about 17%.
A couple of things; if the rich got rich by firing workers then won't it make sense to fire everyone? You think not... The truth is that the rich get rich by a lot of different ways; Kennedys inherit their wealth, Corzines cheat people, Schwarzeneggers invest in real estate, and others (the majority) innovate, work hard, and come up with an idea. They get rich by HIRING people to produce a product. If they can sell more product then they have to hire more people. Sometimes in business (unlike government) people have to be laid off because the market will not provide the necessary support. 12 million Americans out of work since 2008 and how big has government gotten. I see that they want to hire 4,000 more IRS agents to run healthcare (?). That really doesn't make sense but that is what the government wants to do. Think about it, people lose jobs, tax income drops, government has less money, and then they hire more people.

Back in 1990, George (read my lips, no new taxes) H. W. Bush passed a budget, which included a “luxury tax” on yachts over $100,000 in addition to jewelry, furs, etc ...
and you actually teach?

$2 million? Guess again. This from USAToday:
The annual reporting season for executive pay is in high gear. So far, the tally shows the median CEO pay in 2011 rose 2% to $9.6 million, based on 138 Standard & Poor's 500 companies that have reported CEO pay this year and that had the same CEO for all of 2010 and 2011,

Well if we are going to try and treat everyone equal lets start with the truth.
There are more than just the income tax. Some of these taxes are regressive. Do you understand just WTF that means? If not let me explain. It means that when a person buys a car, that sale's tax to a poor person is a much higher % of their income that to a rich person.
To counter this , we came up with a progressive income tax.
Folks are really being idiotic when they run around talking about only one form of taxation. That is not really fair or equal , don't ya think?

Tea Folks are old white people that are sucking this country dry by not paying in wtf they are taking out of the Social Service programs.
They then want to talk about a fair tax!
Some nerve.

Pretty slick the way you lie CJ. George Bush did sign the Omnibus Budget Bill that contained the luxury yacht tax which was put together by a democratically controlled Congress but he did NOT champion this tax. In fact this tax dates back to Jimmy Carter. George Bush is guilty of trying to repeal this tax as can be seen in those two liberal rags the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times. So now you and WTF can go back to sucking each others dicks.
By the way, as a teacher I work for the state of ............ and not the federal government. Going through life fat, drunk, and stupid is not an option...for most of us. Enjoy.

The Fair Tax (national sales tax) is a great idea. It allows the trillion dollar underground economy to be taxed. A lot of people work for cash and don't declare all or any of their income. It would force the illegal aliens, drug dealers, and welfare parasites that work on the side to pay taxes.
We have to get rid of the income tax first; that's the hard part. We sure don't want both at the same time.

Hmmm, you are using an example of state sales tax to make a point about federal income tax? I get that you want the wealthier to pay more than the poor, but even the bible doesn't suggest that a wealthy person should tithe 20% of their income and a poor person should tithe 10% to support the church. If a flat tax was adopted, I would however have no problem with a state that wanted to have a higher tax rate or progressive tax rate based on the price of the vehicle.

I didnt lie Teach, you did. Clinton didnt pass the bill like you said he did... See how that works? Daddy Bush signed the bill regardless of who or what handed it to him, so dont try and put on anyone else. You wouldnt have known that unless you looked it up after I stuck your lie back up your ass where it belongs ...
Lemme guess... youre a history teacher?
