So please...tells us why this Global Warming, oil lease and pipeline killing, energy taxing President can't do nothing about oil prices. Then when your done tell us why the North Koreans cant get a bottle rocket off the ground.

short of this or any president putting our reserves in the global market to temp reduce the price of crude oil, and the key word is TEMP, a president is powerless.

Well the Republicans should be very happy with this N. Korean attempt.
Because it gives Mitt Romney the chance to double military spending because we just saw how dangerous NK "might become" in 10 years from now.

How about if he stopped doing the things that drive the price up?
Just the fact that he believes in Global Warming drives the price up.
Supply, Demand, future speculation of sources.
Open up the west coast. Open up the east coast. Open up Alaska. All he has to do is say we're going to do it....and actually means what he says. If he had done any of that shit the price would be lower than it is today.
But this President wont do it. He has no interest to do it.
It's really sad how you believe everything this guy says.

thats your answer O wise one?
just saying he will open up the east coast and alaska will lower prices?
LMTAO
thats the same sophomoric talking point rhetoric Ive heard 10,000 times. From you its not unexpecetd either.
ok, Obama SAYS ANWR is open for business ... how much does that drop the price of crude oil in a global market? ... right now .. or in 20 years when its in full production?
then lets say OPEC slows production, starves the global market and offsets that price reduction ... OR theres a flair up in the mid east that counters the price reduction x2 ..
in all of your infinite wisdom, tell the ignorant exactly HOW a president can control either of the aforementioned
if indeed you're capable ?????

Boy you really are an ignorant Jackass!
When the prices were high during GWB administration he opened up the federal lands to oil leases and the price of oil dropped like a stone...why? Because of speculation fool. Guess who's been canceling those leases? BO.
And where do you get 20 years before ANWR to get into full production? That is a pure liberal lie. It took 5 years for Prudoe Bay to get online ..pipeline and all! And guess what Shit for brains the pipeline is already there. Dumb Fuck. It would take only 3 years before you'd be putting it into your Kia.
This president and his policies have done nothing but undermine the whole industry starting with his ban on deep water drilling and ending with his BS about oil company subsidies. The government doesn't give the oil companies a dime. In fact they they paid over 128 million last year in taxes and employ over 9 million people in this country alone. Who is subsiding who? Now BO wants to tax them more? Yeah Dip Shit...that will lower the costs. BO biggest campaign contributor was GE...guess what they paid in taxes Moron? Zippo.
Your're not ignorant C17. You just choose to be stupid.
I feel sorry for you.
Next!
Would you like me to go on with the economic benifits

You always say such stupid shit Wavy Gravy. North Korea has been dangerous for decades. Perhaps you never learned that an armistice ended Korean War hostilities wherein millions died – no peace treaty ending the war was ever negotiated or signed!
The Korean War casualties:
Communist losses –
- Democratic People's Republic of Korea: 215,000 dead; 303,000 wounded & 120,000 MIA or POW
- China: 400,000+ dead; 486,000 wounded & 21,000 POW
- Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR): 282 dead
Total: 1,545,822–1,648,582
United Nation’s losses –
- Including Netherlands: 120 dead & 645 wounded
Total: 776,360–1,093,839 dead, wounded and MIA.
Noncombatant civilians killed/wounded/missing:
- South Korea: 990,968
- North Korea: 1,550,000 (est.)
Total: 2.5 million civilians (est.)
GRAND TOTAL: approximately 5.3 million casualties http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_War
Here's another bit of news for you 'naysayers':
North Korea Fires Rockets at South
ASIA NEWS November 25, 2010, 5:25 a.m. ET
Brazen attack on island near disputed waters kills two marines . . . at least 16 [other] marines were injured, military officials said. Three civilians were injured, and the island's 1,200 residents were sent scrambling for bomb shelters.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...523837910.html
. . . . . so much for CBJ7’s claim that “the North Koreans cant get a bottle rocket off the ground.”
Watch the news Wavy Gravy, here’s another example of ‘dangerous’ North Korean behavior you probably missed:
North Korea threatens 'all-out war' as torpedo row grows
20 May 2010
North Korea threatened 'all-out war'if Seoul retaliates for the torpedo attack which sank a South Korean warship.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1279828/North-Korean-torpedo-DID-sink-Souths-navy-ship-propellor-lettering-proves.html
It's great North Korea failed this time, but it remains dangerous.

the price of gas at the pump went down because of consumption rates not because Bush opened shit. The Bush recession was the major factor for the $200 gas on LOCAL levels because people quit buying gas. Oil was 24$ a barrel in 01 and gas was 200 ... was oil 24$ in 08 when gas was 200 ... by your idiot logic it should have been.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alaska North Slope crude oil prices have increased dramatically, rising from $23.62 per barrel in 2000 to $47.05 per barrel in 2005, a 99 percent increase, and to $63.69 in 2007, a 170 percent increase.10 Alaska North Slope oil prices have continued to increase in 2008, in line with other crude prices. The price of West Texas Intermediate crude oil, which typically has a price premium of $5 to $8 per barrel over Alaska North Slope crude, has recently exceeded $120 per barrel.
Considered in isolation, higher prices alone might raise an expectation of higher ultimate recovery from whatever oil resource exists in place.11 Higher prices can motivate efforts to increase the recovery factor through more intensive drilling and through the application of advanced techniques to increase recovery factors. While the menu of available methods may in some cases be limited by the features of the Alaska North Slope environment, for example, steam-injection enhanced oil recovery of the near-surface West Sak heavy oil deposits could endanger the permafrost, some techniques would likely still be suitable. Higher prices also make it more attractive to go after very small fields that are in close proximity to the larger fields that are presumed to be the initial development targets. However, as discussed below, the main impact of such approaches on the amount of oil actually recovered from ANWR is likely to occur after 2030, the current time horizon for EIA analyses.
the EIA dumbass ... after 2030 shit for brains.
no please dont enlighten us with your economic bullshit. Evidently you have no idea wtf youre talking about.
Gee, 20 years ago the same arguments were used to prevent drilling in ANWR. Had we done the right thing then, where would we be now?
gee lammaboy, your little tape reinforces the talking points you yammer about but still doesnt prove a president can control the price of golbal oil. The dipshit dem congessman Fox interviewed lied about the companies that recieve tax subsidies. The BIG oil companies are on RECORD saying they dont need the help, Bush is on record agreeing with them ... but when has fox been honest?
I digress ...
NEW YORK, April 11 (Reuters) - Crude oil output in North Dakota reached a record high in February as a mild winter boosted activity in the Bakken shale prospect, bringing the state closer to overtaking Alaska as the second-largest oil producer in the country.
North Dakota crude oil production rose by about 12,000 barrels per day (bpd), to more than 558,000 bpd, data from the state regulator showed on Wednesday, affirming the state's position as the third-largest producing state in the union after Texas and Alaska.
Output in Bakken shale prospect, a stretch of shale rock south of the Candian border, rose by about 13,000 bpd to 494,000 bpd, the state data showed.
The oil boom in North Dakota, unleashed by a combination of horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing technologies, has upended the U.S. oil market since 2007 and doubled the state's oil output in the last two years.
It has also boosted the local job market. North Dakota had the lowest unemployment rate in the United States in February at 3.1 percent, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Natural gas production, however, dropped by about 0.30 billion cubic feet (bcf) in February to 17.4 bcf, state data shows. About 62 percent of that was brought to market.
Alaska produced some 612,000 bpd of crude oil from onshore fields in January while Texas topped the charts with 1.67 million bpd from gushers in shale and conventional oil fields, data from the Department of Energy shows.
so why hasnt the price of global oil gone down? why hasnt our regioanl price at the pump gone down? why are we exporting oil if we need oil to lower prices?
the canadian oil mentioned by Fox news belongs to canada, we buy the majority of our oil from canada . Sorry, no help with your argument there.
its a fact we have 2% of the RESERVES in the world and use 20% of the oil ... UNILATERALLY, this country cant change the price of global oil, PERIOD
as long as Saudi and the mid east sit with one hand on the production shut off valve and are capable of starving the market , our production efforts can be offset at will, THEIRS ...... BTW, you still havent answered my question how any president can deal with OPEC. Anything?
````````````
to answer your question COF, ANWR wasnt profitable until oil breached $70 ... the EIA article I read in 2000 stated ANWAR would have a 1 or 2 cent effect of prices at the pump at $70 .... by now it could have been 6 cents a gallon, three times that huge amount
