There's a reason, love.

If the car has ANY value, at all, don't go to them. Yes, they will sand and repaint your car, but like others have said here, it will basically render the vehicle worth less than it was before you let them work on it.

I have nooo love for Maaco, however if you do not sign up for the super cheapy job they can do multi stage and base clear. They do have some stores that can do a reasonable paint job for a reasonable price. (that will actually last for a spell)

I’d like to thank everyone for taking time to give me your suggestions and feedback … now don’t throw rocks at me, but I just dropped my car off at maaco.

I have been thinking about this long and hard and have been to maaco 4 times (the same location) since I first posted this thread and everything I saw at the shop was very impressive.

They walked me around the back of the shop and they had a lot of really nice cars there and the paint jobs looked just fine. They were even doing custom paint work that I had no idea maaco did.

The main reason I picked them at this point is because of the price. I really want to up grade a few things in the engine, put a new exhaust on the car and upgrade the breaking system and I just cant afford to do all those things right now and spend 5 grand on paint.

I decided to go with a 2 tone paint job, the top of the car iced purple (although it looks silver) and the bottom a dark gray (I cant remember the name of the color off the top of my head).

It comes with a 10 year warranty and as long as I am not a fault, if the paint chips, they repair it free of charge. They are also going to replace all the weather stripping, install a new grille, new head lights, new fog lights, put clear turning signals on the car and finally do some body work …. molding both the front & back bumpers to the car so the car looks seamless.

I will be picking it up right after the 1st of the year and I will post some pictures then. Hopefully it will come out great. I have faith!!!

Thanks again guys!

oh, no. I thought this was an ISO for hobbying in Macao. Now I don't know what to do with this link:

http://alphaaim.com/macau/index.htm

At least when I googled Macao escorts it didn't lend me at some Macao Ford Escort dealership.

One of the biggest differences used to be the paint itself. Companies like Maaco and Factobake and Earl Schiebs all used cheap enamel paints instead of quality lacquer.

For a high quality paint job the paint should cost more than $700!!! Then add the clear coat.

So how much/many are you blowing on this car? No pun intended. Your getting an awful lot for only 7 bills.

I had a paint job done from Maaco a little over a decade ago. I believe that if you go with same color or similar color it works best since they don't sand down the older paint, as I understand. Anyway, the car looked good and after a couple of years or three I sold it, but the paint job still looked good. At the time I paid about $500, and I was happy with everything.

Like she said, she went in a saw other cars they had done, and they looked good. I don't know how long the paint lasts, but for me and my situation it was all good.
