The two times I've had Franklin BBQ, I was impressed with the tenderness and texture; it was stunning, in a sort of clinical fashion, how he could make that crude cut of meat almost as tender as tenderloin. But I found the flavor to be just OK, certainly not worth waiting four hours in line for.

Don't waste your time.

That's how they stay busy. The notion that their BBQ is so good they run out every day.

I, too, waited in line, and could have gotten the same thing down the street at Sam's.

Only place that I will stand in long line is for Muellers in Taylor. In the summer, it is hot, sweaty and smokey. Just doesn't get any better. Real BBQ and real atmosphere.

FYI, I just heard on KUT fm, there's a big bbq cookoff demo with experts from all over Texas in the IMMEDIATE FUTURE.. I missed the date, but it's probably on their website.. You can sample some of the best, from all over Texas. Maybe Nov 1 or the next w/e, but ck with KUT for factual info..

+1 BB... Go outside the city to find the best BBQ I have spent many a Saturday rolling around county roads on a BBQ quest. There is NO need to stand in line for hours for good Q.
