I lost my wallet and passport in a foreign country. Managed to get that sortied out.

In today's political climate, any county party headquarters (you choose) will facilitate the process of getting your paperwork together and then getting a valid State-Issued ID for you. Here in Texas, there is no fee for the ID.

About half of my relatives on both sides were naturalized citizens. Same for my wife's extended family. Proving you are a citizen and getting a valid ID is just not the hurdle that it is made out to be. If you cannot figure it out, there are folks who will help you.

Everyone has nearly two yeasrs to get their ID set up before the 2024 election, so . . .

Setting aside any difficulties yet again:

Why is it a bad idea to require positive ID when voting?

That is total bullshit....well the part about it being easy.

You are looking at it from a educated middle class background.

It is not nearly as as easy as you think for a certain class of folks.

Thems just facts.

Give them that and let the state do the leg work.

Not easy enolugh for the un-educated, poor what-ever clsdd?

That is why you call the party headquarters of your choice for help.

The objections I am reading in this thread seem concentrated on how "difficult" it is for some undefined but apare4ntly special needs class of citizens to get an ID. Well that is one topic, but it is not the topic of the OP.

No one has addressed the topic posed in the OP: Why is requiring that a citizen present valid ID when voting?

Thank you for bringing that up.

I am a strong believer in using biometric methods of identification. I have long thought that these techniques should be utilized in validating and generating a state-issued ID. We used these technologies in Afghanistan and Iraq on a large scale . . .and we should use them here.

There are several technologies that have emerged in recent years. Fingerprinting of course was the first real method for positive ID of an individual. Today we have iris and retena imaging along with fascial recognition. My smart phone does both fingerprint and fascial recognition. There must be other techniques I don't know of.

But yeah, biometrics to validate the stsate issued ID would strengthen the security of elections.

My son uses CLEAR, a retina scanning security process being used at several airports these days. Very fast getting through security.

Yeah, retina scanning can now be made to work. I forgot about DNA data banks too.

But again, these are details and technology; the means and mechanics to determining positive of individuals.

Why is it wrong to require such a citizen to present a valid, positive ID when voting?

There are still twenty-three months left to get this done.

Not everyone has the former.
SS is a Federal thing so you gonna have them states rights people getting back to you on that LOL!

Photo ID should be required of all. And circumstances come up that you can't produce, there is always another election and remember to be prepared for that one.

If you do not have some sort of ID in your possession and you have some interaction with law enforcement, routine or otherwise, you can have a legal problem.

Having a SSN is mandatory if you have a job. But there are other methods of establishing identity when applying for a state issued ID. Check for this in your state. When in doubt, contact a party headquarters and somene will help you.

WHY IS IT A BAD IDEA TO REQUIRE A VALID POSATIVE ID WHEN VOTING?

Why are you wanting to require CITIZENS a voter ID.

Why not just require a name and SS number.

I've already shown how that can ne used to suppress opposition's voters.

Why would you want to do that?
