It would be awesome. Imagine that, to have enough money to be able to call hot girls and just pay them to have sex (or for time and companionship). It'd be even better if there was a website for it so that you could sample different varieties of girls. Oh, wait. . .
I kid, DK, just thought it was funny. We're living the dream, man.

I don't have an exact number, but I do know that my number would be higher than any number posted. Including the 500k mistake..

i would say the amount depends on if you just need something to tide you over or last a lifetime.
regardless of whether you just need something to tide you over or to last a lifetime, total up all living expenses [home or apt; utilities & phone; food & household supplies; home or renter's insurance; auto (loan, gas, maintenance); medical, dental, life insurance; child care and/or education [if applicable]; eating out; tollway tolls; clothing; entertainment; travels & vacation; pets; musuem/park memberships; computers; etc], add 15%, then multiply by number of months needed.
for example, a good friend of mine just refigured his entire budget and it came out to about $5K / month [does not include any investing $s] or $60K / year.
and dont forget that is after tax (that is "take home pay"), so the pre-tax amount would have to be more.

i've been saving and investing for 25+ yrs. over the years, my money has gained about 8-10% annually. in 2008 when most indexes and funds were down 40%, i ONLY lost 25% [on paper]. it took a few years, but my funds gained back all i lost.
after many years working, i moving into my retirement years and will start drawing on my investments. one thing many advise is to become more "income oriented." thus, i'm moving about 10-15% of my investments from small company stocks to high quality corporate bonds yielding 3-5%.
there are lots of ideas, strategies, pundits, gurus, websites, etc..
if you are interested, i'd be glad to meet w/ you and any other providers to give a brief intro to saving & investing and some great websites. i am serious!

I think, as someone already said, regardless of your profession, just about everyone should have a magic number that would get you out of whatever rat race you're in. If you want to get out of working altogether that is, otherwise you're just chasing money your whole life.
After debts are paid off it's a matter of what you could stand to live on knowing you'd never had to work again - that's the bare minimum. I would take a pretty small amount of money to live on if it meant I never had to work again.
I figured once that a million dollars would do it, but I think I could do it for less, like 500k. With 500k gaining modestly 3% interest after inflation, minus my monthly withdrawals, yeah, I'd be alright if I didn't go nuts with expenses.

$2.50 and a jawbreaker...A dollar and some envelopes?
Not sure what my number would be to "leave" the hobby as a guy...shit it cost nothing to do that.
My "walk away from it all" price fluctuates day to day with BS but lets say quarter mil.
You girls with student loan ambitions need to take up waitressing. Seems every other week there is a story of "extreme generosity". The locations change but root remains the same; rich older man helping younger girl (out of the goodness of their hearts of course). Your skills, those odds..better than scratch offs

Pmdelites... the formula you gave is pretty much what I used. Took all my bills (excluding hobby related bills), multiplied it by number of months, then added tuition, books, and a 10k buffer.
I live frugally.

If Id be the Biz advisor: 2 or 3 years sales like how you evaluate your business when someone is wanting to buy it ...
Lets say 8k sales a month by 24 or 36 = $192k to $288k depending on the ASSets (pun intended)
Avg= $248k

I discovered a fundamental paradox with this thought exercise that may be fun for some of you to consider. If everyone has a number that can buy them out of the hobby, there is almost certainly also a number that could buy them back in. But the thought exercise depends upon the premise of permanent exit.
I would posit that anyone on eccie who had actually made this hypothetical buyout decision would enthusiastically jump back in the hobby and frolic with me for an offer that is just a fraction of the buy out cost.
For example, let's rhetorically imagine a provider who was "bought out" of the hobby for, say, $100k (arbitrarily picking a nice even number). Then imagine someone who fits well within the date-able range of age, looks, character, socioeconomic status, etc, comes along and offers 10% of that - $10,000 - for an hour or so of great, mutually pleasurable and reciprocal sex.
Is there anyone (in their right mind) who would turn that down?
I can sincerely say that I would not, in any reasonable circumstances, turn down $10k for an hour or so of great sex. Even, hypothetically, if my net worth was a thousand times the $100k in the scenario (just to take relativity off the table), I would still happily and eagerly accept the proposal and take the opportunity. Is there any that would sincerely and credibly claim they would not?

Depends on the person. During my last major break from the hobby, I turned down a very nice offer because, at the time, I felt I was "done".
Don't get me wrong. I love sex, and I enjoy the hobby. But in my opinion, this isn't meant to be a lifetime career. It is meant as a means to an end-- and I've personally put a cap at the age of 40. I will be done with school a year before I hit 40-- and I will be done with the hobby at the same time.
Some ladies can do this indefinitely and that is their choice. I want out before it has a chance to make me jaded or bitter. I'm blessed with intelligence, I should probably make a point to use it.

I guess I just think that my number would be high enough that I would be living comfortably.. So comfortably so, that an amount of money wouldn't really make me flinch.
But, if it was you that offered... Well, then.... You may just have to fly out to my private island that I am relaxing on with my hired back scratcher. Odds are there won't be cell phone service, but I'm sure a smoke signal would do the trick.
Hey, I dream big!
I live on reality, but I sure do dream big.
