Especially in a commodity as essential as health care, do you really want providers banding together to set prices? Health care is also different from other markets in that when you need it the most, you have the least amount of time to shop around for better prices. When you get shot by some dude with a Bushmaster, you're not going to turn around and look for another ER to patch you up because you don't like their prices.

Actually, completely free markets are self-regulating. It's the crony capitalist system we've been operating under for at least 100 years that has produced monopolies and megacorporations.
And for those of you who insist on equating Libertarians with anarchists, yes, there is a role for government in a completely free market. Providing avenues and means for dishonest marketers to be punished is one. A free market does mean a business gets to lie about its product or service, nor does it mean that businesses can conspire to control the market.
If any of you clowns had taken a basic econ course in high school, we wouldn't have to have these discussions.
