There's a difference between telling someone they're stupid versus telling someone that I, myself do not share in the opinion that what they believe in is right.
So, to answer your question.......No, I wouldn't tell them they're stupid. There's a lot of opinions/beliefs that I've seen on the board that I don't agree with. But, I've never once called that person/persons stupid. Obviously, its easy for you to do huh?

When it is obvious, yes. But I'll come out and say it if I mean it. Words mean things, and if I think someone's point of view is stupid, I'll say it's stupid - directly and to the point. If I think someone is ignorant, I'll say they're ignorant and provide facts to inform. When I am ignorant, I'll admit my ignorance and ask for help and facts to enlighten me. When I'm wrong, I'll admit I'm wrong. But when I'm right, don't expect me to back down. If I don't say it, I don't mean it.
Your inference is your problem, not mine.

The members of this board never stop entertaining me whether the topic relates to politics, fun, sports or just about anything. I am reminded of a line in the tv series "The West Wing" when president Bartlett is in the situation room commenting on a group of his wife's friends who are doctors and he says something like this to the military and cabinet representatives in the sit room, "you wouldn't think there could be a more arrogant, self-serving group of people than us, but there they are in the residence dining room."
Y'all are a hoot; a collection of the finest smart-asses and self-proclaimed experts in any and all subjects, and I include myself in that characterization! I truly do mean that with respect! Even MsElena, who seems to pick a fight with almost every one of her 303 posts does it with class, distinction and cleverness!
I am impressed and entertained.... keep the comments coming!

Awww Scorpio, I'm not looking to pick a fight with anyone when I respond to a post. I speak my mind and believe in what I say. If it comes across as picking a fight, its not meant to.
But, thanks for the compliment. Also, I love "The West Wing." I stopped watching it after Aaron Sorkin(?) ceased writing.
Back to the topic....
Fritz, Yes, people can be ignorant to certain situations and its a great thing when someone says, "Hey, I don't know all the facts. Can you help me?" I have no problem asking for more information, that's what learning is all about. But, to tell someone their idea or belief is stupid? There's a certain little thing called respect and tact. When you give someone respect, they will give it back to you.
Step outside the box and learn to play nice with others when discussion a topic that you don't share the same belief or you think is stupid.

Someone's opinions might be classified as ignorant or stupid.
If someone's IQ is actually low, then it's rude behavior to call them "stupid".
If someone's IQ is not low, then it's ignorant behavior to call them "stupid".
You are welcome to wear whichever shoe fits.

I have no respect for people's opinions based on stupidity. And, I'm too old for tact, or being PC. And, again, I have not called anyone's opinions on this board stupid - let's remember that, please.

I knew this couldn't go much longer without name calling. I am closing the thread and issuing a warning.
